Despite having a lasting marriage, Mark Consuelos admitted to being jealous and doing crazy things in the fit of jealousy. Recalling the drastic measures he took to ensure his wife was faithful to him, Consuelos gave a vivid insight into his relationship with Kelly Ripa.
Mark Consuelos Confessed To Suspecting Kelly Ripa
Married in 1996, Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa are currently in a better place. However, Consuelos admitted to being jealous during the initial years of their marriage. Recalling an incident from Marlo Thomas and Phil Donahue’s book, What Makes a Marriage Last, the actor confessed to taking drastic measures to ensure faithfulness in their marriage.“I was doing a show in Boston, and I couldn’t get a hold of her all day” Mark Consuelos began speaking in retrospect.
“I got a really bad feeling. So I got on a flight to New York and called her from the plane and asked her what she was doing that night.” he continued. Referring to the section in the book, Kelly Ripa confessed to spending the day cleaning toilets. However, Consuelos repeatedly admitted to not buying her story. “Apparently, he thought that sounded very fishy.” Ripa chimed.
Discussing the rest of the event, Ripa mentioned, “He wanted to catch me. So he gets home and tells the doorman to call up to the apartment and tell me there’s a flower delivery.” Excited to receive flowers from her husband, Ripa opened the door wearing bathrobes with a johnny mop in hand. But there were no flowers, instead, Ripa witnessed a jealous Consuelos at her doorstep.
Kelly Ripa Was Humiliated By Mark Consuelos’ Suspicion
Such an anti-climactic event for Kelly Ripa to witness from her husband. Opening the door with the hope of receiving flowers simply got shattered when she saw Mark Consuelos. “So I open the door, and it’s him. He comes in—he doesn’t even say hello.” barging in, the actor frantically looked for something. “He’s looking for something. I’m still looking for the flower guy! And he’s sweeping the scene!” Ripa explains.
Realizing the jealous side of Mark Consuelos was quite disheartening and at times humiliating for Kelly Ripa. Admitting to feeling “horrible” for even assuming his wife would cheat on him, Consuelos worked on his jealousy. He further confessed to being “less jealous these days”. However, there are instances when Ripa faces unnecessary wrath from her husband simply based on his assumptions and overthinking.
