“I had real time, a hard time”: Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender Actor Was Stunned After Learning Mark Hamill’s Previous Role Before Playing Fire Lord Ozai
Soon after we hear Batman: The Animated Series, the first name that pops into most brains is Mark Hamill’s iconic voice for Joker. The duo of Hamill and Kevin Conroy was one of the reasons behind the series’ triumphant success.
However, one actor who was stunned to learn that it was Mark Hamill behind Joker’s intriguing voice is Daniel Dae Kim. The actor is all set to play Fire Lord Ozai in Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender, the role that was previously voiced by Hamill in the 2005 animated series.
Dae Kim spoke highly of the Star Wars actor and his contribution to the entertainment world. From voicing iconic characters to landing some of the most engaging roles, Mark Hamill proved his versatility.
Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender Star Was Astonished To Find Mark Hamill Voiced Joker
One key element that makes an animated series engaging enough is the voices behind the characters. And to make sure that Batman: The Animated Series leaves no flaws, Bruce Timm along with other creators made the best choice to cast Mark Hamill to voice Joker. The animated series debuted in 1992 and ran for a total of three successful seasons till 1995, with Hamill and his pal Conroy alongside him.

Apart from Batman: The Animated Series, Mark Hamill also voiced Fire Lord Ozai in another series titled Avatar: The Last Airbender. Released in 2005, the series was critically acclaimed and generated a massive fanbase. Following the success, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko have created the live action of Avatar: The Last Airbender streaming on Netflix.

Actor Daniel Dae Kim who’s playing Fire Lord Ozai in the live-action, recently shared that he was astonished after learning that Hamill was the man behind Joker. According to CinemaBlend, the Return of the Jedi star said:
“First of all, I think Mark Hamill, you know, is one of our best voice actors. When I first heard him doing the Joker, I didn’t know was him.”
Explaining his reaction, the Raya and the Last Dragon star added:
“And when someone told me it was [him], I had real-time, a hard time, trying to compute putting those two ideas together. That’s how good his work is.”
What’s even more surprising is that Dae Kim was also not aware of Hamill voicing Ozai until years after he watched the animated show. The Spider-Man 2 star labeled Mark Hamill’s performance as “full-throated and wholehearted”. Fire Lord Ozai is the leading foe in Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Dae Kim playing the role makes it even more thrilling.

Is the Netflix remake as good as the original Avatar the Last Airbender series? No, Not even close. That said, it is still pretty great for what it is: a live action retelling that isn't mean to be the exact same as the animated series. Enjoy it for it is, don't hate on it. pic.twitter.com/uBRf2p2F0h
