According to Cinemablend, she confessed to watching Obi-Wan Kenobi straightaway after being released from prison. While talking about how cosplay helped her deal with trauma. She explained-
“I’m not gonna lie, a little bit. I think that looking at old pictures of me wearing different costumes and stuff even though the interest is there I can’t help but have like a small part of me that still feels like when I put on a costume, I’m put back in that time. And that’s just something that I’m gonna have to work through with a therapist. You know, I still have a lot of triggers that might be extremely subtle.”
As reported by Cinemablend, Gypsy’s husband Ryan Anderson also spoke about her connection with cosplay. He explained-
“She probably wore those cosplay outfits and costumes to get out of her current life. She was living with her mother. So it was like an escape and I think she loves who she is now as a woman and as a person. So, right. So I guess she’s right when she puts on that costume, she’s escaping a good life, now, so she might not want to do it as much.”
After Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s release from prison, the spike in the popularity of the 32-year-old internet sensation speaks volumes about the love and support she has been subjected to by her fans around the world.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard Talks About Her Mother
Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s childhood was scarred due to her mother Dee Dee Blanchard. During a recent interview with the media outlet People, Gypsy appeared for an interview and openly spoke about her life in prison, and her late mother. While reflecting on the moment she decided to kill her mother, Gypsy confessed-
“It was panic, desperation. Because I was facing yet another surgery pretty soon, and I really did not want to have the surgery.”
She committed the crime with her then-boyfriend, Nicholas “Nick” Godejohn. During the interview, she also spoke about getting a second chance to redo everything. She said-
“If I had another chance to redo everything, I don’t know if I would go back to when I was a child and tell my aunts and uncles that I’m not sick and mommy makes me sick, or, if I would travel back to just the point of that conversation with Nick and tell him, ‘You know what, I’m going to go tell the police everything.’ I kind of struggle with that.”
For years Gypsy Rose Blanchard was subjected to unnecessary medical tests and procedures and was given medicines for the diseases she was not even down with. After her story was brought in front of the world, it was widely believed that she was a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a rare type of child abuse in which the caretaker creates fake symptoms to make a child look sick.
