Taylor Swift recalled her first encounter with Eddie Redmayne
Eddie Redmayne and Taylor Swift once made an appearance on the Graham Norton Show. She related an amusing and perhaps embarrassing story about her first encounter with Eddie Redmayne there. Swift began her story on the Graham Norton Show by stating, “I once died in his arms” referring to Redmayne. Swift recalled her audition for the movie Les Misérables, where she tried out for two different roles. But everyone believed she looked more like Cosette and had the vocal range of Eponine.
Swift jokingly recalled that she had a gut feeling she wouldn’t get either job going into her audition with Redmayne. She couldn’t pass up the chance to meet one of her favorite actors, though. She arrived in London for the audition, worried but excited.
Taylor Swift was shocked and appalled to learn that they would be coloring her teeth brown for the character of Eponine. According to Swift, this change should have happened after she met Eddie Redmayne. She joked about her astonishment and discomfort at going to the makeup chair first, but she handled everything with grace, even if it eventually became somewhat of a “nightmare” for her.
Eddie Redmayne was embarrassed by his breath
During a screen test for Les Misérables, Taylor Swift and Eddie Redmayne revealed some amusing details of their first encounter. Swift admitted that she hesitated when she first met Redmayne, but he reassured her that it was a mutual feeling. Redmayne remembered the surprising circumstances clearly, including Swift’s disguise as a street urchin from the 19th century, and how, shortly before the audition, he had gorged on garlic bread balls at Pizza Express. Redmayne’s attention was primarily on his breath, rather than Swift’s appearance while they were singing to one another on the floor.
Swift expressed her relief at learning that they were both having trouble with the odd audition situation during the lighthearted and humorous interaction between the two celebrities. Eddie Redmayne and Taylor Swift both felt self-conscious and embarrassed about their appearance. Swift did feature in other films including Valentine’s Day and Cats even if she didn’t get the part in Les Misérables.
