Timothée Chalamet regrets losing Greta Gerwig’s Barbie
Barbie director Greta Gerwig revealed that her actor ally once visited the set of Barbie in London and expressed his remorse over not being a part of her Barbie movie. He was actually in grace while observing the set. Gerwig reveals in a recent interview with Hollywood First Look. Gerwig stated that she had plans to bring Timothée Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan in for a cameo appearance in the project. But both couldn’t make it due to some scheduling conflicts. During his visit, Gerwig was quick to ask Chalamet why he wasn’t in the blockbuster.
“I tried to get them both in it. They both couldn’t do it. Although Timothée did come by the set and then say, ‘I should have been in this, I was like, ‘I know! Why aren’t you in this?’
Ronan also mentioned missing the role in the Barbie movie as she was busy with work in The Outrun. The actress revealed it in People magazine last year. Both artists’ creative partnership was well evident in Gerwig’s outstanding compositions like Lady Bird and Little Women. In both movies, Saoirse Ronan and Chalamet were able to showcase their unparalleled portrayals, adding depth and emotion to create an impactful cinematic experience.
“But it was going to be a specialty cameo. I was also going to do a specialty cameo with Timmy, but both of them couldn’t do it, and I was so annoyed. But I love them so much. But it felt like doing something without my children.”
Barbie Movie Cast: Setbacks for prominent actors
Apart from Chalamet and Ronan, many prominent faces were also added to the star-studded Barbie cast, including recognizable figures like Will Ferrell, Kate McKinnon, and Helen Mirren. As the movie wrapped up production, these actors could not join the team due to various reasons. Even Wonder Women actress Gal Gadot was supposed to be playing a version of Barbie; Several alternate Kens were also decided on: Bowen Yang, Dan Levy, and Benn Platt. The team also thought about Jonathan Groff for the character named Alen and finally ended up with Michael Cera.
Helen Mirren was also part of the movie as a voice actor, and she was almost going to appear in the movie too, but she ended up audibly. Even though actors Chalamet and Ronan and all other prominent icons couldn’t make it to Barbieland, but were forced to decline for a variety of reasons, like scheduling or charges against the characters, dashing the promising possibilities.
Barbie is still enthralling audiences in theatres worldwide.
