In the vast and ever-evolving world of superheroes, lies the uncelebrated stars who contributed to the success of an actor playing the fans’ favorite character. Similarly, Dougray Scott was set to play Hugh Jackman’s iconic Wolverine but fate had something else in mind.
The X-Men movie’s character was not always Hugh Jackman’s. Before the actor got cast as Wolverine it was Dougray Scott who was considered to play the superhero, but it was not in his fortune and the role was passed to Jackman who is still slaying the role.

Undeniably Hugh Jackman has been nailing the character of Wolverine since it was put in his fate. The actor is well-known for his iconic character and gained an incredible fanbase. But it is unknown to many that Jackman was not the first choice to be given the role, it was offered to Dougray Scott initially. Hugh Jackman when laned on the role of Wolverine, rocked it for over a decade. The Deadpool 3 star’s decision to retire Wolverine inspired him to do Logan as Scott’s words when Jackman met him gave him optimism. Hugh Jackman in an interview with BBC said:
“I remember running into Dougray Scott who originally had this role, but couldn’t do it because he was on another film that ran over, so I got the role. I met him and thought this is going to be awkward, but he said: ‘Logan is going to be one of the best roles you’ll ever have, so go crush it’. I thought it was so simple and classy, so I’ll say the same thing – but don’t crush it too much”.
Due to Scott’s unavailability, as he was filming for Mission: Impossible 2, he couldn’t accept the role, and finally, the Reminiscence actor was cast. Hugh Jackman then met Dougray Scott and his words energized the X-Men star to be exquisite with the character of Wolverine which eventually gave him immense success in his career. Hugh Jackman will be seen in his iconic character again with Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in the much-anticipated Shawn Levy‘s Deadpool 3.
Deadpool 3 Director Shared a New Photo With Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds
Every Deadpool and Wolverine enthusiast is waiting to witness the two iconic stars on one screen. Amid the ongoing strikes, the film is facing continuous delays. Director Shawn Levy recently shared a photo on his Instagram Story in which he was seen sharing a meal with Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds as they wait to get back to filming. Deadpool 3 will mark the Marvel Cinematic Universe debuts of Reynolds’ Deadpool and Jackman’s Wolverine after they were previously set in Fox’s concluded X-Men universe. Deadpool 3 has been getting delayed since The Writer’s Guild of America first went on strike followed by SAG-AFTRA, both battling for a fair pay in the industry. Many celebrities have been vocal and supporting the strike and if they end soon, there’s a fair chance for the much-anticipated movie to retain its current release date. The Shawn Levy movie is said to have many things that will captivate fans in which Reynolds and Jackman will meet for the first time on screen with the iconic roles.
