Christian Bale‘s co-star Michael Caine in The Dark Knight did not accept the classic role as he believed he was too mediocre to play such a classic character as James Bond. Caine indisputably is an impeccable actor who slayed a complex character in Christopher Nolan‘s Batman trilogy. The actor portrayed a butler and confidant of Bruce Wayne aka Batman in the film for which he had to depict a challenging man.

In an exclusive from the Express, Michael Caine stated that he did not find himself worthy enough to take on the role. The Inception star believed that he was a quite usual man to play the iconic role of James Bond. The actor said:

“I was always much more ordinary. Bond was a glamorous, imaginative creation. I’ve always played real people.”

The Batman Begins star mentioned that he was better suited for playing real people and according to him, James Bond was an epic creation that required a better actor than Caine. The Italian Job actor is one of the stars who rejected the main role in the spy thriller after Sean Connery quit playing it.

Michael Caine was already a well-established and acclaimed actor when he was offered the blockbuster role but as the actor had his thoughts he decided to let go of the various missions he might have gone on in the film to thwart the plans of international terrorists, supervillains, and criminals by bringing his classy style of acting to the suave agent.
