Chris Pratt has captured the hearts of audiences with his impressive acting skills. However, the road to success for him was not always easy. Despite his fame as Star-Lord in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies, the actor had to hustle a lot to land a leading role in Marvel films.

During his recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Pratt revealed that he always did not have the best luck when auditioning for Marvel films.

He explained, “I auditioned for Thor, but not even to be Thor – but to be one of the sidekick guys, and I didn’t get a callback.“ The actor continued.

“Usually they give you a little bit of feedback, and I remember the casting director goes, ‘Wow. You made a big choice there.’ Which is code for being like: ‘Hey, dial back the acting there, guy.”

The Jurassic World star then shared that after failing multiple auditions,

“It got to the point where I was never gonna audition for Marvel again. I was like, ‘This is stupid, I’m never gonna be in a Marvel movie.”

Despite his determination to stop auditioning, Pratt continued to try his luck in every Marvel movie that needed a guy who even remotely looked like him. However, he either received a rejection or was not needed for the role.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie artist’s perseverance finally paid off when James Gunn stopped him in the middle of his audition for Guardians of the Galaxy and advised him.

“I don’t know what you’re doing, but you’re blowing it. This is the moment right now. You just need to stop doing whatever you’re doing and just be real. Just be you.”

After that Pratt becomes an integral part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He will soon be seen reprising his role as Star-Lord in the highly anticipated third part of Guardians of the Galaxy.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is highly anticipated in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and fans are eagerly awaiting its release. James Gunn, who directed the first two films in the trilogy, is also directing this upcoming movie.

The movie cast is filled with familiar faces, including Pratt as Peter Quill, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Vin Diesel as Groot, and Sean Gunn as Kraglin Obfonteri.

Further, Will Poulter joins the cast as Adam Warlock and Chukwudi Iwuji plays the role of the High Evolutionary. The official synopsis for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 reveals that Peter Quill is still mourning the loss of Gamora.

“still reeling from the loss of Gamora and must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.”

The film’s first official trailer, which was released in December 2022, teases character flashbacks, battles, and funny banter between the Guardians.

The second trailer, released in February 2023, shows Gamora coming back to life with no memory of her relationship with Peter Quill. However, specific details of the story are being kept under wraps until opening day so fans will have to wait until the movie’s release.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to be released in cinemas on May 5th, 2023.
