“I was slightly more comfortable”: Megan Fox Might be the Undisputed Ruler of Our Fantasies But Her Co-Star Wasn’t Very Thrilled to Kiss Her in $31M Cult-Classic
Who wouldn’t fancy kissing Megan Fox, the queen of our desires? Sure, kissing a Hollywood actor might sound overwhelmingly dreamy, but throw in personal, religious, and, well, bacterial reasons—and suddenly, on-set kissing isn’t as fun as you’d think.
Despite Fox’s undeniable appeal, her co-star, Seyfriend, wasn’t quite thrilled to share a kissing moment with her. This surprising twist adds a quirky layer to the cult classic’s BTS narrative, showcasing even the most buzz-worthy Hollywood moments can have a bit of awkwardness and discomfiture.
Megan Fox’s Kiss Fails to Impress Co-Star in Cult Classic
For over a decade now, the cult classic film Jennifer’s Body has been a Hollywood darling movie of choice. However, in 2009, it was regarded as a major flop, fetching only $31 million in global box office gross. Critics had mixed reviews, and it quickly became a laughing stock even before it could even be given that chance. By Hollywood standards, the film nowhere near made its mark.
Fast forward to today, and the movie is back, acquiring fame, but recent revelations have added a twist to its intriguing legacy: Co-star Amanda Seyfried isn’t afraid to kiss and tell. While Fox says, “I was slightly more comfortable,” Seyfried had a different opinion. In the October 2011 issue of W, the gorgeous actress opened up about her portrayal in the $31 million cult classic.
Recalling the time with her In Time co-star Justin Timberlake, she said the s*x scenes were great. Making a bold statement, she further expressed:
A lot of my co-stars have been sexy guys my age, so, why not? I’m not going to pretend it’s not fun,” she explains. “Justin was great — he had come from doing Friends With Benefits, where he basically had sex every day at work — and so it was easy for both of us. We just kind of got it on, and then were like, ‘That was good!’
But according to Seyfried, Timberlake wasn’t as alarmingly sexy as her co-star, Megan Fox, in Jennifer’s Body. She jokingly told W magazine that even though the movie was ignored, she had a fun time doing it. Talking about her on-screen kiss with actress Fox, she mentioned it to be extremely erotic besides her nervousness.
I think Megan and I kissed really well together. We have similar kissing styles and it worked. We got it done for the masses, and the masses still didn’t show up.
In retrospect, while Jennifer’s Body initially flopped and faced criticism, its transformation into a cult movie has had a lasting impact. Of course, Seyfried’s candid reflections on her experiences add an intriguing aspect to the film, making it all the more memorable for fans.
Smooch Sputter: BTS of an Unforgettable Kiss and Why Amanda Seyfriend Wasn’t Feeling It
Without a shadow of a doubt, Jennifer’s Body was a compelling film, but what stood out the most was Seyfriend and Fox’s passionate kiss. After the film aired, Seyfriend said that, despite a bit of awkwardness, she truly felt they had a powerful connection.
Jennifer’s Body is my favorite movie that I’ve done…I can’t believe nobody wanted to see Megan Fox and me hitting it. We had an extreme close-up of our tongues, and I’m telling you, the thing about the scene is that it’s actually really sexy!
However, the film still didn’t do great at the Box Office. In a Buzzfeed interview, screenwriter Diablo Cody and director Karyn Kusama spoke about how the advertising strategy went completely off. They relied heavily on Fox’s appeal to attract young, straight men. This is why the actress had sexually proactive posters and dubious marketing concepts, including the idea to have her host an amateur p*rn site. Sadly, there seemed to be a lack of interest in promoting this cult classic to the right audience.
