Paris Hilton was the OG influencer back in the 2000s. She was known for her crazy antics and being overtly s*xualized, the tabloids were crazy to capture the moments of the troubled teen whenever they could. After the leaked s*x tape, she was hounded by the paparazzi to an unhealthy extent. But that does not mean her being s*xualized without her consent was at all okay. The Playboy magazine did exactly that, even after she turned down a seven-figure deal.

The American socialite and television reality show personality, now recalls in her new memoir the horrors she had to live through back then. And she does not hold back.

Paris Hilton turned down Playboy multiple times

According to the new memoir, Paris: The Memoir, Hugh Hefner desperately wanted her to be the cover girl for Playboy magazine. She writes,

“Hef really wanted me to do a Playboy cover,–He kept offering me more and more money, saying I wouldn’t have to be totally naked, just topless. And then saying, I didn’t have to be topless, just sheer. And then saying I could wear whatever lingerie I wanted. Even when he offered seven figures, I turned it down, because I knew my mom would lose her mind.”

Then, the unthinkable happen, the magazine released her as the cover girl but claimed it to be news and not pictorial so that no legal action can be taken against the giant publishing firm. Hilton was absolutely devastated when she learned the news. She wrote,

“I was like, “Whut?–Hef had ‘honored’ me with the S*x Star of the Year Award, which means they can claim it’s ‘news’ and not a pictorial. He got a picture from an old test shoot with a woman photographer.”

She then further explained how the pictures from the shoots that were used went really great and were a very pleasant experience with a female photographer. But the memory was now stained because of this incident. But to her surprise, nothing was inside the magazine. She explained,

“He got a picture from an old test shoot with a woman photographer who was really great. It’s kind of an old-school pinup-girl vibe: red bustier and heels, black fishnets, very little actual skin — nothing as sexy as the Carl’s Jr. shoot. I imagine it sold well because people expected to see me naked inside the magazine,–Surprise, suckers. They got nothing. Same as me.”

This led her to experience trauma for years. Although nothing was inside the magazine and only a picture was used as a cover to boost the sales of the copy, she feels disheartened the magazine went forward with it even after she expressed her disapproval time and again.

The aftermath of the incident

After finding her on the covers of Playboy magazine without her consent, Hilton was devastated. In her memoir, she wrote,

“My parents were pissed, and I cried, but none of us confronted him, because you just didn’t do that,”

She then continued to explain how it affected her mental health,

“The world thinks of me as a s*x symbol, and I’m here for that, because symbol literally means icon,–But when people saw that s*x tape, they didn’t say icon, they said sl*t. They said wh*re. And they weren’t shy about it.”

Hilton then dove deep into the topic. She wrote,

“I hated the idea of s*x,–I avoided s*x until it was absolutely unavoidable. Tabloids created this narrative about me sleeping around with a hundred gorgeous guys — not the truth at all!”

Paris Hilton then encouraged the people in distress stating,

“I know there’s someone out there who needs to hear that they’re not weird or frigid or dead inside — they’re just who they are at this moment: an asexual person in a hypers*xualized world.”

She is now in a very healthy space and thus can talk about it all openly and freely. Hilton is now happily married to Carter Reum and has also welcomed a baby boy recently.
