Beginning in the 80s, Tom Hanks had a remarkable career consisting of many incredible and iconic roles (who could deny the popularity of Forrest Gump). However, despite such an amazing list of projects, it seems that Hanks has those roles, which he ended up disliking afterward. In a recent interview, the veteran actor opened up about the topic and even shared some information on what he called the Rubicons that filmmakers and actors go through. While sharing this information, Hanks shared that Time and commercial success made up one of the factors of the filmmaking process.

When it comes to Hollywood’s finest actors, Tom Hanks is one name that pops out inevitably. Making a debut in the 80s, the actor has played various iconic roles, the most major one being that of Forrest Gump in the 1994 hit film Run Forrest Run. Apart from that there are many other memorable roles and projects such as Castaway, A Man Named Otto, etc.

However, despite all that, there are those roles that Hanks ended up disliking afterward. Talking with The New Yorker Live, he opened up about such situations by giving 5 “Rubicons” that explained what every filmmaker and person involved in the movie goes through.

And He even admitted to hating some movies just like anyone. And some of these are reportedly his movies which he ended up hating afterward.

Further, he explained the Rubicons, according to him the first Rubicon was when one accepts or passes a project. The second Rubicon is where one realizes whether they hate the film or at proud to be a part of it. This is apparently what Hanks went through with his movie projects. An important point that he mentioned was the “commercial success” of a film saying,

“Because, if it does not make money, your career will be toast sooner than you want it to be”

So, to have a long-lasting career, film projects needed to do good at the box office. Along with that the actor also mentioned time as one factor which played an important role in deciding whether a film was successful or not.

One of the most popular names in Hollywood, Tom Hanks began his journey in the film industry with his debut role as Elliot in the 1980 slasher He Knows You’re Alone. Following that he did many other projects and in 1994 his most memorable performance came with Run Forrest Run.

In the film, he plays the role of a man with a very low IQ named Forrest Gumpa who desires to be reunited with his childhood sweetheart. And as of the present moment, Hans has around 80 film projects throughout his career.
