‘If she responds in the wrong way…”: South Park’s Meghan Markle Roast Episode Could Impact Her ‘Sussex Brand’, Affect Her Alleged Aspirations To Become President
The “poorly” animated show about the misadventures of four foul-mouthed kids in Colorado does not shy away from talking taboos. Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s South Park first premiered in 1997 and took the world by storm defying all the norms. With the ever-evolving world, the show about four kids who cuss turned into a cultural phenomenon. It did not stray away from addressing the hard-hitting issues and the absurdity of the world. The satirical adult animation shook the whole nation but did not fail to provide laughter. But it seems that Meghan Markle may choose to think otherwise.
After 26 seasons, it is still standing strong and did not deviate from its motto. In a very recent episode of the show, it chose to “brutally” roast Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
South Park’s episode on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
The show did not specifically use their real names, but the appearance of the characters heavily suggested the two. It was uncanny to some extent. They called the redhead Prince, “dumb prince” and his better half the “stupid wife”. In the animation, the “wife’s” character wore the exact outfit Meghan Markle wore in 2018.
The episode titled, “The Worldwide Privacy Tour”, then went further to discuss and tear apart the celebrity couple. In the episode, the Prince was seen promoting a book called “Waaaagh”, which could be a joke on Prince Harry’s recent memoir, Spare. Then the wife’s character states,
“If we moved here, people would think we’re really serious about wanting to be normal.”
Implying their move to exit the Royal Family was somewhat of a public stunt and plea for sympathy. On their arrival, Kyle Broflovski one of the title characters of the show says,
“They have this huge jet parked in front of my house and they keep on wanting me to buy their book.”
Then the show depicted its take on the couple’s urge to protect their privacy inspite of coming out with heavy details about their lives in the documentaries and memoirs that people would have normally chosen not to know about. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are then shown taking part in a disastrous television interview with ends with them running around with placards stating, “We want privacy.”
When the “fictional” host asked them about their take on journalists, “the dumb prince” replied,
“That’s right. We just want to be normal people – all this attention is so hard.”
The show projected its take on the couple and many agreed.
South Park makes fun of Harry and Meghan. As usual, they get it spot on. 👌🏼 pic.twitter.com/JURRIgHvsF

Meghan Markle on the South Park episode
Celebrities are ridiculed in the modern media on a daily basis. Thus, it is nothing new, the show mercilessly roasted the Prince and Markle. Matt Yanofsky a celebrity publicity expert revealed to The Mirror,
“Meghan Markle is divisive, and South Park is playing on that image, so it won’t impact her,—South Park taking aim is a natural progression. Her brand hasn’t been damaged; if anything, things like this continue to show her relevancy.”
According to the expert, Meghan Markle has to be very calculative with her reply, as this can either make or break her ‘Sussex Brand’ and her alleged aspirations to become president. Yanofsky further added,
“If she responds in the wrong way, it could impact her differently.”
Sources close to Meghan Markle also shared with The Spectator that she felt “upset and overwhelmed” after the episode introduced her as a “sorority girl, actress, influencer” and “victim” while calling Prince Harry a “Royal prince, millionaire, world traveler, victim.” The royals are yet to respond on the matter, people are waiting eagerly on what they have to say.
