“If you support staging this cruel stunt on Christmas Eve….”: The View’s Ana Navarro Makes Controversial ‘War on Christmas’ Comment as Show Prepares for Another Mighty Ratings Downfall
Recently on Christmas eve, a busload of migrants from Central and South America were dropped off outside US vice president Kamala Harris’ residence in the freezing weather. These buses were some of the many, headed for New York City from El Paso, Texas. However, due to the worsening weather, the buses carrying the migrants had to halt in Washington D.C. Following this, talk-show host and political commentator Ana Navarro took to Twitter to express her opinions about the situation. She criticized the situation calling it a “cruel stunt” on Christmas eve.
Ana Navarro Criticized the Dropping of Migrants Outside in the Freezing Weather
The recent busloads and lines of migrants dropped off outside VC Kamala Harris’ residence on Christmas eve has people divided about the situation. Some have taken to criticizing the migrants themselves while others are blaming the body responsible for it. And The View host Ana Navarro is one of the many who is criticizing the authority for letting such a situation even occur.
The situation looked bad as people including children were standing outside in the freezing cold weather. Following this, Navarro took to Twitter to express her controversial view. She wrote,
Don’t lecture me about a made-up “War on Christmas”, or tell me “Christ is the Reason for the Season”, if you support staging this cruel stunt on Christmas Eve”
the Talk-show host further added,
“using human beings as political pawns, throwing them out on the street in frigid weather.”
Her comment was met with various different responses. She is not the only host in The View that has made controversial claims. Her co-host Whoopi Goldberg has found herself in hot waters more than once. Her “tone-deaf” comments even led to viewers boycotting the show altogether. However, the show is still on although viewer ratings did witness a reduction from 2.5 million to 2.2 million after that since 2020.
Why Did The View Ratings Decrease?
Although the show has been one of the most-watched daily talk shows since its debut in 1997, it saw a drop in its viewership in recent times. Reportedly, the show has slowly lost viewers since 2020. The rating went down from 2.5-2.2 million as of June 2022. One of the reasons is host Whoopi Goldberg’s frequent “tone-deaf” and “controversial” comments. According to viewers, the show is not the same as it used to be. And that instead of the light-hearted way the show used to take place, in recent times the hosts have started to delve into topics that are unsuitable for such a show.
Out of all the hosts, Goldberg has repeatedly made controversial remarks. And one of them even led to the viewers signing a petition to boycott her. Goldberg has retracted her comments and remarks since her temporary suspension. However, fans and viewers have already lost interest in her.
The View airs on ABC on weekdays at 11 am ET.
