‘I’m not gonna charge you. Let’s take a shower together’: Coach Carter Actress Ashanti Claims a Producer Was ‘Dead Serious’ About Sleeping With Her
Hollywood casting couch stories are nothing short of horror stories, and it turns out the music industry is no different either. Pop star Ashanti recently revealed that she was ordered to take a shower with a certain nameless music producer who was initially friendly to her but then showed his true colors. The 42-year-old was posed with two options, to either strip and shower with the man or to pay $40,000 per track that he had worked with her.

Ashanti was recently on the radio show The Breakfast Club with host Charlamagne tha God where she recalled a “crazy situation with one producer” that she had been working with in the past for a few weeks. The Gotta Move On singer narrated,
“We did two records together, he was like, ‘Okay, I’m not gonna charge you, you know you my homie’. When it came time to put it on the album, he was like, ‘Well, let’s take a shower together’. I thought he was joking, and then he was like, ‘Nah, I’m dead serious. Let’s go out, or let’s take a shower together, and I’ll give you the records. If not, I need 40 racks per record’.”
Even the host, Charlamagne, was pretty shocked at the horrendous account, as he exclaimed, “Jesus Christ.”
It ended up just fine for Ashanti
The Grammy winner then went on to explain that she somehow managed to handle the whole issue without giving in to the vile propositions presented before her. She recalled,
“I thought he was joking, because we had been working together for a couple weeks. But it turns out that he was serious. I had to make some phone calls and stuff was handled. It was wild.”
The Happy singer carefully refrained from revealing the identity of the music producer throughout the episode.
However, this is not the first time that she has discussed this incident with the public. She had talked about a certain producer who had “a little crush” on her and then “all of a sudden the track became $45K”, back in 2018 as well.
She further added that her family was supportive and they helped her clear the mess. The issue was concluded with the producer apologizing and giving her “three records for free… And I got two of them mixed and mastered for free.”
It is at least relieving to see that this tale had a rare happy ending, something we usually don’t see in cases of abuse.
