Solo Leveling’s Season 2 Episode 11 dropped the cruelest cliffhanger in anime history by showing fans just enough to get them excited for the next series episode. While the anime watchers are biting their nails in anticipation, all the manhwa readers can say is: Welcome to the club.

Seeing the anime watchers scream about the horrible cliffhangers delights manhwa readers with great pleasure as they reflect on how they felt the same emotions when the Solo Leveling webtoon was still being published.

Let’s address the cliffhanger in the room

Let’s address the elephant in the room, or in this case, the cliffhanger. With Solo Leveling’s anime adaptation finally starting the Jeju Island Raid in its 10th Episode, titled “We Need A Hero”, fans have been bummed by the prospect of Sung Jinwoo staying away from the raid.

Fans took Sung Jinwoo’s words about the raid’s outcome to heart and believed that the joint operation between Japan and Korea would succeed, with some of the strongest S-Rankers entering the Ant nest.

While the entirety of Episode 10 and Episode 11 of Solo Leveling’s season 2 built up faith in the fans that the raid might be a success, the arrival of the Ant King thrashed all their hopes by brutally killing off several Japanese hunters and devouring them.

As if that wasn’t enough, the monster then turned its attention towards the Korean hunting team, taking out the entire team with ease, and killing the S-Rank Healer and Baek Yoonho’s friend, Ming Byung-Gyu brutally (for all the members out there, he joined the donut club).

This merciless killing spree and characters like Cha Hae-In getting injured caused fans to fear that the lives of their favorite Solo Leveling characters might be in danger.

Everyone was powerless and injured due to the Ant King, and even the Ultimate Hunter, Choi Jong-In, the team’s last line of defense was starting to get pushed back by the endless barrage of ants.

But just when things started to look grim, the protagonist, Sung Jinwoo’s shadows emerged out of the shadows of the hunting team. This is a result of Jinwoo managing to attach his soldiers to the hunting team during the training match in Episode 10 of this season.

As everyone watching heaved a sigh of relief and expected the episode to end at that particular moment, they were excited to see Jinwoo, who seemed ready to join the battle. In an exhilarating moment, the episode ended with Jinwoo uttering a single word: “Exchange”.

Poetic Justice at its finest

The cliffhangers caused fans to scream in desperation as they wanted to see just a bit more. Fans eager to see Jinwoo finally join the battle soon realized they would have to wait through a whole week before witnessing his rampage.

Every single person watching the episode had a similar reaction, and all of them took to social platforms, describing how they were screaming in excitement in one moment, and were bummed the next moment.

While the anime watchers were busy discussing how disappointed and upset they were with the cliffhanger the manhwa readers were delighted by their plight which reminded them of how they had to wait for Solo Leveling’s Chapter 101 after Chapter 100 ended at the exact moment.

Fans of the Solo Leveling Manhwa have jumped into discussions across social media, reminiscing about how they endured a week-long wait for the new chapter. They also pointed out that, unlike the anime, there was always a chance of publication delays, making the anticipation even more intense.

This makes us wonder if the Manhwa fans were trolled by the Solo Leveling Light Novel fans similarly during the Manhwa’s publication.

The anime watchers aren’t the only ones who had to endure this anticipation. The manhwa readers had to go through it a long time ago, and it’s only fair that the Solo Leveling anime community experiences this.

Solo Leveling is available to stream on Crunchyroll.

The Episode 11 cliffhanger lands even harder for manhwa readers who already know the theory that the Architect was never in control — just another pawn of the former Shadow Monarch.

Frequently asked questions

How does Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 11 end?

Episode 11 ends on a cliffhanger during the Jeju Island Raid arc that began in Episode 10. After the Ant King devastates the joint Japanese-Korean hunter teams, Sung Jinwoo’s shadow soldiers emerge from the team’s shadows, and Jinwoo utters a single word, “Exchange,” cutting off just before he joins the fight. He had marked the hunters earlier so he could trigger his Shadow Exchange technique to teleport in.

Who dies in the Jeju Island Raid in Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 11?

The Ant King kills several Japanese hunters and then slays the S-Rank Healer Min Byung-Gyu, described as Baek Yoonho’s friend. Other Korean hunters are left injured, and the “Ultimate Hunter” Choi Jong-In, the team’s last line of defense, is pushed back by the swarm of ants before Jinwoo’s shadows arrive.

Why do manhwa readers call the Episode 11 cliffhanger poetic justice?

The article frames it as poetic justice because anime-only viewers now face the same agonizing week-long wait that manhwa readers endured, specifically the cliffhanger when the webtoon’s Chapter 100 ended at the exact same “Exchange” moment and fans had to wait for Chapter 101. Longtime readers enjoyed watching the anime community share their old frustration. Solo Leveling is animated by A-1 Pictures and streams on Crunchyroll.
