Recently, the model appeared in an episode of Vogue‘s Life in Look series and shared some of the most iconic outfits she donned from 1993 to Now in fashion shows. She also opened up about the iconic Versace jungle-print dress singer Jennifer Lopez famously wore at the 2000 Grammys. Amber Valletta said,

“This dress has been Googled more times than any other look in history. It literally broke the internet when Lopez wore it, so it’s kind of cool to be a part of that history. I wore it first.”

The Spy Next Door actress continued,

“I think this was the pinnacle of fierce Versace sexiness. It was the infamous jungle dress. Nobody went out like that ever; nobody had shown skin in the front like that down past the navel. I think it was just so ahead of its time and it just said, I’m woman and hear me roar– literally, from the jungle.”

Jennifer Lopez wore the gown after Valletta, and she even brought back the green Versace silk chiffon dress in 2019. The American entertainer wore it to close out the Italian brand’s show during Milan Fashion Week. The What Lies Beneath star did the right thing by claiming the credit for popularizing the Versace Jungle dress, as she was the first to wear it.

The Will Smith in Hitch movie actress is one of the legends in the fashion world. In 2000, she pursued her acting career and has featured in prominent roles in many movies and television shows. In a previous interview, the actress spilled the beans and revealed several details of her early career.

Talking about her first job, Valletta told Interview magazine,

“It was an advertorial for Italian Vogue. I cried on set because I didn’t know what to do. That was two weeks after being in Milan for the very first time. I think I had one or two test shoots there. The other big break would have been a cover of French Elle with Hans Feurer. Then I cut my hair short and it changed everything overnight. I was about 18 when I cut my hair off—the little pixie haircut.”

Amber Valletta was asked what was her family’s reaction of her being so famous. She said,

“There were different reactions. One of my little brothers felt that I had left him. My mom was proud but very hands-off. She didn’t really know enough about the industry, and she didn’t have the time to stop her life to go chaperone me. I think she trusted me and … Well, she was probably a little naïve. I think my dad was proud. My stepdad was definitely proud.”

Valletta continued,

“I had weird reactions from other families. One of my half-sisters just couldn’t deal with it. I think she saw me as someone she had a hard time relating to. We’re super close now, but I probably came home from Europe with weird opinions and attitudes and weird clothing. I probably looked so different to her, and I couldn’t show up for things she would have liked me too. My life picked up speed, and I couldn’t really stop the momentum.”

Amber Valletta had been on the cutting edge of fashion in her prime and had helped bring many invocations to her field, and therefore deserves recognition for her work.
