Iman Vellani says she sees Kamala Khan as Captain America mixed with Nick Fury

The 21-year-old Iman Vellani has received praise and appreciation for portraying Kamala Khan not only in 2022’s Ms. Marvel but also in the recent release of The Marvels. Even though the movie has not yet been able to reach the expectations of the studios and is being criticized by various publications and critics, the actress says that it’s not her focus. Instead, she is focused on what is yet to come for her character.

In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Vellani revealed her vision for the potential Young Avengers movie which was lightly teased towards the end of The Marvels. She said,

“In my head, she’s going to be Captain America mixed with Nick Fury. She’ll know what’s on the roster for the day, but is also a natural born leader. It would be such a natural progression for her character to lead a team.”

There are quite a few Young Avengers in the MCU, including Kate Bishop from Hawkeye, Cassie Lang from Ant-Man, Riri Williams from Black Panther, Kid Loki from Loki, Eli Bradley from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Billy and Tommy from WandaVision. These young actors and their respective characters could be an interesting choice for a movie.

Vellani added that she is excited to see if any of those storylines go anywhere.

Iman Vellani reveals Kamala Khan was supposed to meet a few people instead of just Kate Bishop in The Marvels

During an interview with New Rockstars, Iman Vellani was asked about the scene with Kamala Khan and Kate Bishop played by Hailee Steinfeld in the very last scene of The Marvels and noted that she had mentioned that she was supposed to meet someone else.

Vellani shared that there were a few other people she was supposed to meet and not just Kate. She said,

“I like this version better because I want to see Kamala collect her Infinity Stones. I want her,  like my favorite part in Avengers was Nick Fury going to Steve Rogers and Black Widow going to Hulk and everyone likes just gathering the group together and then the band’s all on a Hella carrier and they’re meeting for the first time and they’re fighting and they’re like learning how to work together. I want to see all that.”

The actress, who has high expectations from Marvel Studios when it comes to Young Avengers, continued that it’s going to be such a fun piece of content that they could have liked. She added assembly is just the core to all this, noting that it’s almost like a stretch-out version of the Get the Gang Together and said that the studio can milk it as long as they can until they are all like 30.

Marvel Studios has not yet announced a Young Avengers movie or TV as of now, but the ending scene in The Marvels teased a bit for the audience to wait.

The Marvels is currently playing in theatres.
