When it comes to the royals, there is no doubt about how costly their outfits are. Simply put whatever they choose to wear on a certain day is surely going to be something very expensive and of a very fine quality. And on this Year’s BAFTA awards, attended by the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge, something was different about a piece of accessory worn by the latter. Seemingly Kate Middleton went with earrings that were much more humble in terms of price. While her dress as usual was designer made and probably cost thousands or millions, the earrings were 27 dollars from Zara. This stood out from the whole look of the night.
Can this be a way that the duchess is presented as a more relatable figure to the general public? Likely, Meghan Markle is already looked at as the more relatable and close to the general way of life out of the two. Only time will be able to reveal the truth behind the recent choice or it might never be known.
Kate Middleton Ditches Expensive Jewelry for an Earring Costing Less Than 30 Dollars
Recently, the BAFTA awards were attended by many movie stars and celebrities. And among them were the British royal couple Prince William and Kate Middleton. They are a familiar face at the award show with Prince William serving as the president of the award community.
This is his first appearance after two years gap. But besides all that, what stood out about their appearance was surprisingly something that the Princess of Wales had on. She usually goes with an Alexander-Mcqueen dress to grace the event and this year was no exception.
Middleton wore a white one-shouldered gown by the designer. Along with that, the look was completed by black long-sleeved gloves and a pair of big earrings. She had her brunette hair fall straight down her shoulders. Everything looked fairly normal for someone like her except for the earrings. Instead of an expensive designer pair, the earrings are from Zara costing only 27 dollars. For those unversed, the brand is a Spanish retail chain and is known for fast fashion. Largely popular with the general public with average incomes.
Also, it is more likely for Meghan Markle to carry out such actions. She is considered more of a “people princess” compared to Middleton. Therefore in her case, the earring choice would not have been that surprising.
Is Meghan Markle Considered the “People Princess”?
Before the death of the late Princess Diana, she was the first person related to the royal family that was more in tune with the general public. Her choices were seemingly always in conflict with the royal family. And reportedly her husband King Charles III (then a Prince) also never sided with any of her decisions. Furthermore, the unconventional actions carried out by Princess Diana made the general public love her more than any other royal member.
And now after 30 years after her death, her youngest son’s wife Meghan Markle is seemingly going through a similar situation. The Duchess of Sussex is liked by the public more than the royal family undoubtedly. And just like her late mother-in-law, she has always been treated more like an outsider reportedly. This way a lot of parallels can be drawn between the two.
