Infinity War and Black Panther Actress Critically Injured in New York Hit & Run Incident
Besides the big names of Hollywood, the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies also feature numerous other great actors. One of them is actress and stuntwoman Carrie Bernans who played the role of a Dora Milije warrior fighting for the African nation of Wakanda along the side of the King Black Panther in Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War.
Accidents and injuries are not uncommon for actors on movie sets, but that is not how actress Carrie Bernans got hurt soon after the new year began. Recently, she became a mother to a son, and fortunately, the baby was not with her when the accident happened. Her mother has shared details of her current predicament.
Actress Carrie Bernans is Severely Hurt
Carrie Bernans and eight other people reportedly became the victims of a hit-and-run case in New York City on Monday at 1:30 AM. According to her publicist, she was hurt when a driver crashed into an outdoor dining shed at a Peruvian restaurant named Chirp in midtown Manhattan. The driver caused further damage by backing up and hitting another car before the cops arrived.
Thankfully, The Color Purple actress’ infant son was with her family in a hotel. As of now, Bernans is in surgery, but she is in stable condition. Her mother Patricia Lee has posted details of the accident on Instagram. The post reads:
“She was involved in a traumatic incident in NYC where a man, early 40s was trying to escape a hit and run and ran into multiple cars before hitting a food stand that her friend & her were walking near. It ended up knocking her unconscious and pended her under the stand. She was under it unaware of what was happening.”

The actress has “a few broken bones, fractures, & chipped teeth” but is grateful that her life was saved. According to Lee’s post, among the 9 people who were hurt in the accident, there were three policemen. The driver was arrested shortly after the accident.
Carrie Bernans Has Not Lost Hope Despite Suffering Major Injuries
The beginning of a new year fills people with hopes of a better and brighter future for themselves as well as their loved ones. That being said, challenges find those who are strong enough to face them. Carrie Bernans is one of these strong people which can be seen in her belief despite the injuries.
The actress’ mother also mentioned in her post how Bernans has not lost her hope in the face of this adversity. Lee wrote:
“This setback hasn’t deterred her belief that something remarkable is still being crafted by God. Despite the injuries sustained in the collision caused by a hit-and-run in NYC, she’s filled with hope and faith in the unfolding of a beautiful new chapter. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she navigate this path toward recovery and new beginnings.”
Patricia Lee also thanked her friends, family, police, and everyone else who came forward to help Bernans in this difficult time. Hopefully, the actress will recover soon and reunite with her friends and family.
