Reportedly, the show’s animation is borrowed from the look of Saturday morning cartoons from the early 2000s. The first season of Invincible premiered in 2021 and opened to a positive response from critics and audiences, which is why the studios renewed the series for a second and third season. The third season is scheduled for a 2025 release, but a recent update for the upcoming season has left fans waiting for the series desperately.

Invincible Season 3 Poster teases one BIG SPOILER

One of the most beloved superhero animated series, Invincible, will soon return to screens with its third season, but ahead of the release, a poster has been unveiled. Not only does the poster fill the fans waiting for the season to drop with enthusiasm but also surprise because the poster counts as a pretty big spoiler. Season 2 had teased that the Global Defense Agency is working on an updated version of the ReAnimen.

The recent teaser showcases Mark Grayson, voiced by Steven Yeun, meeting Cecil Stedman, voiced by Walton Goggins. Cecil is not happy with Grayson taking a lengthy break from his superhero duties and tells him that he needs more training if he has to prepare himself to face the Viltrumite threat. The duo has clashed before, but it has been reported that certain events in the upcoming season will lead to a major falling out between the two.

The poster shows exactly that. It’s intriguing to know because Cecil Stedman is said to be Grayson’s ally, but the poster tends to show the opposite. Grayson had spent most of season 2 following Cecil’s orders and trying to prove that he was nothing like his father. The poster that showcases Grayson holding Stedman’s collar can suggest that Stedman might have crossed a line that is unacceptable to the superhero.

The creator Robert Kirkman shared in a recent interview (via ComicBook),

I don’t want to reveal exactly what we’re doing. There’s a lot of great stuff with Cecil Stedman. We get to see a little bit of his backstory and get to know a little bit more about him as a person.

ScreenRant explains that the poster shared recently can take an interesting turn as the conflict between Grayson and Stedman will be elevated with their personal history.

Despite the conflict that is teased in the poster, it is very clear that the two of them share a commitment to keep the planet safe from threats.

Robert Kirkman clarifies an Invincible Season 3 episode feels like a ‘finale’

The wait for Invincible season three is finally over as the adult animated series is set to release in early 2025, with the creator recently addressing that they are changing the way the show operates. Robert Kirkman notes during a San Diego Comic-Con that every episode of Season 3 is going to feel like a finale. He explained via Games Radar+;

The stakes of the season are really high, and the content of the season is really dense. So we’ve set up a lot of stories in seasons 1 & 2 that are kind of coming to a head in season 3. And so in a lot of ways, every episode does kind of feel like a finale.

Kirkman further comments that there is something big about every episode coming to a conclusion, adding that there is some huge evolution of a character or story turn that happens. The creator is very excited for the audience to watch the upcoming season and describes it as ‘crazy.’

For season 3, Mark Grayson dons his new blue suit, and Kirkman noted that it’s definitely an evolution of the series, stating that the series is growing darker with every season. He goes on to explain that the lead character was in a really strange place at the end of every season and in season 2 audience saw him kill Angstrom Levy which is going to weigh on him.

Grayson’s temper is also going to be tested in the upcoming season, which is why Robert Kirkman believes season 3 is going to change the way the show operates.

Invincible returns for Season 3 in February 2025, and reportedly there is going to be no mid-season break.
