We all know how important Edwin Jarvis is to Iron Man aka Tony Stark, but what you might not know is that he named his AI system in admiration of his butler who has undeniably fulfilled what Stark’s father Howard Stark being a significant contributor to the world couldn’t do. He helped Iron Man navigate through various challenges in his life that were created due to the troubled father-son relationship.
Tony Stark, in the comic book Iron Man 2: Public Identity #2 recalls his difficult childhood with Howard Stark who barely contributed to his son’s happiness. Stark’s childhood was already confusing, all thanks to his dad, and if Edwin Jarvis hadn’t exited it would have been a complete mess.
He remembers when his father crushed his beloved toy car calling it a waste of time and this is when his butler made sure that his companion wasn’t alone and provided with emotional support to little Stark. He also mentions Jarvis being extremely happy to see Tony Stark returning from school and staying on his side throughout. So, honoring Edwin Jarvis was worth it!

Even though Iron Man aka Tony Stark’s arc has incredibly ended through Avengers: Endgame while defeating the ultimate foe Thanos, there have been queries about who will take on the lead after Robert Downey Jr. Well, it’s gonna be difficult for the superheroes to be as impeccable as Iron Man, there are numerous reports that suggest that Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine from the original X-Men franchise are set to lead in the much anticipated Avengers: Secret Wars.
In the book MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, the authors penned down four remarkable superheroes: Captain Marvel played by Brie Larson, Benedict Cumberbatch‘s Dr. Strange, late actor Chadwick Boseman‘s Black Panther and Paul Rudd who plays Ant-Man in the MCU were considered to take Robert Dowey Jr.’s place but somehow it couldn’t happen. However, one thing that’s common in these superheroes is they have a significant impact on the entire universe and even hold standalone movies.
Robert Downey has often acknowledged the impact of playing Tony Stark in the MCU which gave him immense success and an enormous fanbase, however, once he shared that he doubted playing his iconic role. In a conversation with New York Times Magazine, Downey mentioned doubting that playing Iron Man might diminish his acting abilities for contrasting roles, but then he clarified that it didn’t happen and successfully played the lead antagonist in Oppenheimer which is completely distinct from his iconic superero.
