Jack Black Talks About Voicing The Character Of Po in The Kung Fu Panda Franchise
Jack Black has voiced one of the most loved characters, Po, ever since the Kung Fu Panda franchise was introduced. During an interview with Polygon, the American actor recalled meeting the DreamWorks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg for Kung Fu Panda. He said-
“Jeffrey Katzenberg told me, You don’t have to worry about creating some new character. I want you to be you. And he got some footage, I think it was audio from School of Rock, or High Fidelity, one of my earlier movies, and he had the animators do a short animation using that audio.”
He further mentioned-
And I was like, Oh, all right, now I get it. So when I first started, it was a fun opportunity to just be myself, and let the animators do all the cool fighting sequences. I got to be kind of a superhero but with all of my natural instincts.”
Kung Fu Panda is one of the most successful franchises from the House of Dreamworks. The first chapter of Kung Fu Panda amassed a box office collection of $631.7 million against the production budget of $130 million. The massive success of the first installment constructed the path for the multi-million dollar franchise.
Kung Fu Panda 4 is currently running in the theatres.
