Is Taylor Swift the Mastermind Behind Argylle- Henry Cavill and John Cena Finally Break Silence
There is no ceiling to the kind of love and admiration fans have for pop star Taylor Swift. From her music to her life choices, Swifties, as they are lovingly called, support her in every aspect. Not just the masses, Swift has a horde of celebrity friends and fans as well. The latest frenzy in the world of Swifties is linked to the upcoming spy action thriller called Argylle.
Did Taylor Swift Write Argylle?
People on the internet are known to carve mountains out of a molehill. Users on social media found that the author Elly Conway, whose book is supposedly the source material for the forthcoming movie Argylle, is a pen name with mysterious Twitter and Instagram handles.
They were quick to jump to conclusions and believe that Elly Conway is none other than Taylor Swift, who has written the book under a fake name. The fact that Bryce Dallas Howard’s character is Conway herself added fuel to the fire. The Swiftian aesthetic in Howard’s Conway portrayal kept fans wondering.
It appears as a carefully planned stunt to keep Conway’s real identity hidden, and given Swift’s massive popularity, it is plausible that her team is keeping this a secret. Moreover, Argylle is Conway’s first novel, for which she signed a $200 million deal to sell the rights of the book. Fans further wondered how a first-time author bagged a multi-million dollar deal if she wasn’t an already famous celebrity.
Matthew Vaughn, the director of Argylle, clarified the rumors and confirmed that Swift did not write the novel, but that doesn’t seem to soothe fans’ curiosity. The controversy has caused quite a stir as fans keep pointing out similarities between Howard’s character in the Argylle movie trailer and Taylor Swift. From her wavy red hair and cardigan to her pet Scottish Fold cat, the coincidences have to end somewhere.
What Does the Argylle Cast Have to Say About Taylor Swift’s Involvement?
Henry Cavill and John Cena, the stars of the upcoming movie, broke their silence on the matter and chimed in with their thoughts. Cavill teased a double-bluff and stirred the pot further by posing the question if Conway was indeed Swift under a pen name. On the other hand, Cena, a certified Swiftie, posted a cryptic image of the singer on his Instagram and said in an interview with ET Online,
“It speaks volumes of how influential she can be and, of course, it’s great for people to be aware of our film. We want people to see Argylle ’cause it’s entertaining and if Taylor Swift and her fanbase can be a vocal voice for us. It’s a movie about being a spy — you know, the greater the spy the bigger the lie — so to start off a marketing campaign or a push for awareness with some misdirection and deception, it couldn’t be a better movie it happened to.”

Howard reacted to the rumors, too. She said,
“I mean, they were amazing. And I think in many ways, [the fans are] certainly not wrong about the inspiration of Taylor, like the argyle, the cat, and the backpack, and all of that. I mean, certainly – there are, you know – it’s unconsciously inspired by Taylor Swift.”
The spy movie will definitely jump to newer heights with this speculation clouding the release. Imagine the entire Swift fanbase heading to the cinemas to watch Argylle and skyrocketing its ticket sales. Possibly, it is one of the most interesting marketing campaigns for a movie. With no comment from Taylor Swift or Elly Conway, we will just have to wait and see how the situation unfolds.
