Neil Patrick Harris’s Sexuality Revelation
The beloved entertainer has captivated audiences with his exceptional talent and sarcasm. Despite being in a long-term relationship with now-husband David Burtka, Harris had not publicly acknowledged his sexuality until his relationship with Taylor.
The Gone Girl actor had realized he was gay years earlier while dating a famous woman. During his tenure on the show Doogie Howser, he was dating a teenage actor who helped him come to terms with his sexuality.
After finally coming out publicly in 2006 at the age of 33, the producer made an appearance on The Howard Stern Show in 2008. During the show, he revealed that his relationship with the actress helped him confront his sexuality and come to terms with it. He shared,
“She’s the coolest, nicest chick ever. She’s an absolute catch, and I thought, ‘If I’m not going to feel the super sparks with her … it probably means I’m gay.”
Harris dispelled any rumors and misconceptions about his private life and relationships. In Neil Patrick Harri’s statement to the media, he said,
“The public eye has always been kind to me, and until recently, I have been able to live a pretty normal life.” Further, he continued,
“Now it seems there is speculation and interest in my private life and relationships. So, rather than ignore those who choose to publish their opinions without actually talking to me, I am happy to dispel any rumors or misconceptions and am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest and feel most fortunate to be working with wonderful people in the business I love.”
He was happy with his life as a gay man and grateful for the support he received from his loved ones and colleagues. The Smurfs‘ stager search for self-discovery helped a lot from his relationship with the Zoolander artist.
Neil Patrick Harris And David Burtka’s Romantic Relationship
Harris and Burtka’s relationship has become one of Hollywood’s most beloved love stories. Although the pair first met in 2004, it wasn’t until a few years later that they began dating.
After Harris Uncoupled actor came out publicly in 2006, he confirmed his relationship with Burtka on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, he said,
“I’m not a very scandalous person and so I didn’t want to have to respond to some story … I just made a statement and sort of squashed the fires. My life had been relatively open in my world. I’ve been dating the same guy for three years and our families know. We go out together all the time … I never felt it was an obligation for me to hold pinkies down the red carpet or anything.”
Both couples made their first joint red carpet appearance at the 2007 Emmy Awards, after three years of dating. They announced their engagement in 2011, shortly after New York legalized gay marriage.
The couple’s wedding was held in Italy in 2014, and they are proud parents to two children, a son and a daughter, who they welcomed via a surrogate in 2010.
Burtka also discussed the process of having children on The Wendy Williams Show, revealing that he is the biological father of one of the twins and Harris is the biological father of the other. While jokingly noting the 47-year-old stated, “It’s a lot harder for gay guys [to have kids], although we tried.”
He and Harris have been able to navigate parenthood with ease, and their family is often seen out and about together.
