Tom Cruise never steps back when it comes to fair protests. the actor once staunchly supported the protest against the controversy that surrounded the lack of diversity within the HFPA‘s membership. The War of the Worlds actor expressed his disappointment with the organization for lacking diversity and ignoring people from diverse races and backgrounds.

To validate his legitimate concern over the unfair practices, for which HFPA received immense backlash over not treating people fairly and asking unwanted questions that were believed to be disrespectful, Tom Cruise according to Variety did not hesitate to return his three Golden Globe Awards which he earned for Born on the Fourth of July (best actor, drama), Jerry Maguire (best actor, comedy or musical), and Magnolia each.

The actor once revealed that there were individuals who tried to persuade him to take on roles that would earn him an Oscar, but Cruise never felt the need to earn and make them a huge goal in his career. According to  the Irish Examiner, The Mummy star said:

“I didn’t grow up watching the Oscars, so it’s never been a goal, I wanted to act. People have tried to get me to do a role by saying, ‘This is your Oscar.’ That means nothing to me.”

Tom Cruise claimed that winning the Oscars was never his goal and this is why he fearlessly returned three of his Golden Globe Awards to make his aim and thoughts crystal clear in the vast film industry. The actor landed Oscars nominations for the identical trio of the films he received his Golden Globes.
