It’s quite safe to assume now that Chainsaw Man could literally be the edgiest manga that Weekly Shonen Jump is releasing as of 2024. Tatsuki Fujimoto, the writer of the hit shonen series, is by far no saint, given how much abuse he puts Denji through. However, it is quite admirable to see Fujimoto try to see how far he can push the boundary with his hit Manga and Anime.

Chainsaw Man was always one of those mangas which are totally unhinged. Given the tone of some of the scenes in the manga, you’d probably think that the fans would be ready for any sort of curveball Fujimoto throws their way. However, chapter 167 of the manga definitely came on a little strong for fans. Literally.

Fans lose their mind over recent Denji abuse by Tatsuki Fujimoto at Chainsaw Man Chapter 167

Chainsaw Man: Chapter 167

Chapter 167 of Chainsaw Man just dropped recently, and it certainly has the whole internet and the anime world buzzing about a particular scene where Denji, the main protagonist, was done horribly wrong (again). Tatsuki Fujimoto is totally unhinged when it comes to making his hit manga, Chainsaw Man, stand out from the rest. Chapter 167 just gave us a glimpse of Fujimoto’s dark but unique sense of humor.

The chapter, that’s titled “Super Smooch,” finds Denji and Asa, who is possessed by Yoru, alone in a back alley after a botched date attempt. In not-so-predictable Chainsaw Man fashion, the scene would take a whole different twist, as the two would find themselves fighting for a knife, which would eventually lead to them kissing. The moment gets a lot more intense as Asa (Yoru) puts her hands inside Denji’s pants, eventually leading him to climax.

This particular scene had fans confused about how they should feel about it, as some believed that Fujimoto went a little overboard with the story as Denji got s**ually a**aulted.  Others didn’t seem too bothered by this, mainly because Fujimoto has already put them through worse with the series.

Chainsaw Man certainly isn’t an anime for the faint-hearted. Tatsuki Fujimoto made that clear with incessant traumatizing, and even straight-up disgusting scenes. And in typical Tatsuki Fujimoto spirit, let us relieve some of the most disturbing moments in Chainsaw Man.

Chainsaw Man Episode 7 (MAPPA Studio)

How Chainsaw Man came to existence: We start strong. Chapter One of Chainsaw Man hits us with a devastating punch to our guts. Denji, our seemingly down-on-his-luck protagonist, gets ripped to shreds by a devil in a gruesome display of violence. But this isn’t all as his devil pet, Pochita, sacrifices itself to revive him, fusing with Denji and turning him into the monstrous Chainsaw Man. It’s a brutal introduction to the harsh world of Chainsaw Man.

The blood fiend’s fights: Power’s fighting style is as brutal as it sounds. One unfortunate soul gets the worst of it. Power literally crushes her opponent’s head, then proceeds to… well, let’s just say she enjoys a rather disturbing post-battle snack. It’s a moment that goes beyond violence and enters the realm of the truly grotesque, but incredibly mesmerizing at the same time.

Denji’s unfortunate first kiss: We can’t forget the infamous “first kiss” scene. Denji, after a night of drinking with his squad, thinks he’s finally getting a moment with the beautiful Himeno. He leans in for a kiss, expecting romance, only to be greeted with a surprise. Himeno, weakened from the fight and the booze, throws up in his mouth. It’s a shocking and disgusting moment, with a bizarre mix of dark humor and desperation. Denji’s celebratory mood quickly diminishes right after.
