“I’ve been quiet quitting for at least 10 years”: Kelly Ripa is Leaving Live With Kelly Soon
Kelly Ripa joined ABC’s Live in 2001 and has been going strong as the show’s host for over 20 years. On the morning talk show, she worked with multiple co-hosts and even managed the show all by herself when no one was there to join her as the co-host. And her current co-host, Ryan Seacrest, will also be leaving the talk show soon, after which Ripa’s husband, Mark Consuelos, will join her as her new co-host.
People are now wondering if she has plans to follow Seacrest’s way out of the talk show. While she probably doesn’t have such plans now, she is ready to welcome her husband on the show. However, the actress earlier talked about her plans to leave the show.
Kelly Ripa Talks About Her Quitting Plans
During an interview with Extra, Kelly Ripa talked about her retirement plans from Live With Kelly and Ryan. Ripa said that she thinks about it all the time and has been “quiet quitting for at least ten years, maybe 15.” She also shared that she wants to make sure that she can bring in someone new, who can integrate themselves into Live’s audience’s lives.
The All My Children star also added that it will eventually happen when everyone thinks that the time is right, and the decision would not be only her own. “It’s like a long-term discussion when everybody thinks the time is right, and it would be a universal decision — then that’s the time,” she said. And the talk show host shared the same thoughts during her recent interview with Variety.
Kelly Ripa Wants to Make Sure Live is in Good Hands
Ripa earlier shared that she wants to introduce a new host that is able to maintain the audience’s interest in the talk show. And she does seem to have some plans for that. During her recent interview with Variety, she talked about how she doesn’t want to put a “timeline” on it and would love to train new hosts of the popular talk show.
“I don’t want to put a timeline on it, but I do believe there is a great opportunity to get two younger people and start training them, because I like seamless transitions.”
Ripa shared that she wants to train two younger people to take over as the next hosts of Live. Ripa also shared that she once almost quit the show after she realized that she was not being paid fairly. But now, as her husband is now ready to join her on the show, Ripa would likely stay a little longer on Live.
