Jacob Elordi and Reneé Rapp are two of the most happening actors in Hollywood right now if online discussions are anything to go by. A lot of actors captivated the audience with their performances in 2023 and then again at the beginning of this year, but Elordi and Rapp are among the ones that have clearly become pop culture sensations.

In the biographical movie Priscilla, 2023 saw Jacob Elordi as the legendary musician Elvis Presley. If that was not iconic enough, he went on to star in a dark comedy psychological thriller named Saltburn, which is in the running for two Golden Globes and five BAFTAs among other accolades. As for Reneé Rapp, she has starred as Regina George in the musical adaptation of Mean Girls, the cult classic movie. Pairing them for the hosting of SNL has sent fans into a frenzy.

Jacob Elordi and Reneé Rapp Getting Paired for SNL Has Sent Fans Spiraling

Although Elordi starred in four movies in the past year, what stood out the most is his performance as a rich, Felix Catton, a spoiled boy with an eccentric family, in Saltburn. The fans have gone wild and often use the internet label of ‘babygirl’ for him.

While Reneé Rapp does not have much experience in the mainstream Hollywood acting industry, she has won the hearts of fans with her portrayal of Regine George in the musical film adaptation of Mean Girls. This has garnered her the label of ‘mother’.

SNL’s brilliant idea of pairing these two internet sensations has obviously worked because fans have responded pretty well to the promotion of the show in which Rapp and Elordi are seen saying their monologue. Here is what some of the fans have to say:

Some other fans are not nearly as impressed as they believe that SNL is supposed to be funny and whatever Jacob Elordi and Reneé Rapp are doing does not qualify as comedy.

What’s Next for Jacob Elordi and Reneé Rapp?

Jacob Elordi gained prominence for his portrayal of Noah Flynn in The Kissing Booth trilogy, which also starred Taylor Zakhar Perez (Red, White and Royal Blue) and Joey King. Then, he also starred as Nate Jacobs in the widely acclaimed HBO series Euphoria.

The Australian actor has been nominated for numerous accolades for his performances in Saltburn and Priscilla. He will next appear in the miniseries adaptation of the novel The Narrow Road to the Deep North. He is also set to star in the movies, On Swift Horses and Oh, Canada. The release dates of these projects are yet to be announced.

As for Reneé Rapp, she has worked in numerous Broadway shows and has also released two albums, her debut EP Everything to Everyone followed by her debut studio album Snow Angel, released in 2023. Although she can continue to embark on an acting journey after the success of Mean Girls, in October 2023, she stated that she does not wish to continue in this line of profession and would like to focus on her career as a musician.
