“Jada is one of the most gangsta ride-or-die’s I’ve ever had”: Will Smith Pours His Heart Out For Jada Pinkett Smith After Past Relationship Troubles
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s relationship has faced many ups and downs, yet it remains stronger than ever. In 2020, the Angel Has Fallen actress shared on her show, Red Table Talk, that they had been separated for seven years (at that point). Despite this, she spoke about their enduring love and commitment to making things work.
They live separately but haven’t ruled out a future together. Smith is now back in the spotlight promoting his new film, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, and it seems the title holds a deeper meaning for the actor than just the movie itself. It’s his dedication to his relationship with the 52-year-old actress.
Will Smith’s Emotional Declaration of Love to Jada Pinkett Smith
Will Smith recently shared his deep appreciation for his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. While promoting his new movie, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Smith praised Jada for her unwavering support, calling her one of the “most gangsta ride-or-dies” he’s ever known. This term is often used to describe someone who is fiercely loyal. The 55-year-old expressed this sentiment to ET at the screening of his upcoming film:
It’s funny, I was just talking about this, I have always been blessed that there has never been a time in my life when I didn’t look to the side and have a ride or die right there. Jada is one of the most gangsta ride-or-die’s I’ve ever had.
This public declaration of love comes after a tumultuous period for the couple. The 2022 Oscars saw a shocking moment after the now-infamous ‘slapgate’ incident, when Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock onstage in response to a joke about the Girl’s trip star’s hair.
This resulted in a 10-year ban for The Fresh Prince from The Academy and a drop in donations to the Smiths Family Foundation. Even Jada’s openness about past relationships also sparked media attention. Despite all this, Will’s latest comments show that their commitment to each other is now even stronger.
The Slapgate Incident Brought Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith Closer
In a separate interview, Jada Pinkett Smith reiterated Will Smith’s feelings. She described the Oscars incident as a “holy slap” that ultimately brought them closer. Despite the initial shock, she saw it as a turning point. The actress said in an interview with Daily Mail’s You Magazine (via CBR):
I nearly didn’t attend the Oscars that year, but I’m grateful I did. I call it the ‘holy slap’ now because so many positive things came after it.
Everything between the two Hollywood stars seems to be sorted as of now. For those unaware, they have two kids: Jaden Christopher Syre Smith (born 1998) and Willow Camille Reign Smith (born 2000). The TV host is also the stepmom to Trey Smith, Will’s son, from his earlier marriage.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die is set to release on 7 June 2024.
