“No way. I’m getting goosebumps as you say that. That scene is close to my heart. I have not gone through the hardship that you went through, I can only imagine. And just imagining it, it’s heartbreaking for me. But your reaction was exactly what we were trying to achieve.”

Parenthood actor Xolo Maridueña even said that the death scene is one of his favorite scenes from the upcoming movie. He added-

“Damián Alcázar, the actor who plays my father, was so generous and wise and calm. I remember thinking it felt ethereal for Jaime to see his father. But it was just his soul. It wasn’t his body.”

Xolo Maridueña urged his fans to hug their parents if they are alive and said-

According to the conversation, it was quite evident that the death of Blue Beetle’s father is the turning point of the superhero plot. While coming to the depiction of the real essence of the elements in the movie, the director mentioned that the story can easily strike a chord with the audience. He stated-

“We gave everything to make something special and emotional that connects with audiences, and what you just shared is probably the best compliment I can get. Let’s tell stories that help us heal. I could care less about anything else. You just reinforced the reason why I want to do this.”

Xolo Maridueña On Playing The DC’s Blue Beetle

DC’s Blue Beetle is gradually gearing up for its worldwide theatrical release. With an entire Latina cast, the movie is one of DC’s first-ever Latino-led movies. During an interview with the media outlet Collider, the Cobra Kai actor Xolo Maridueña spoke about his experience of being associated with the billion-dollar franchise. The actor even mentioned his excitement when he was approached by director Angel Manuel Soto. He said-

“That part of things, making everything canon, is a very exciting part of the process. I got to come in during pre-production and help carve out who Jaime is, as a character. I was really grateful that Angel gave me a lot of liberties, in terms of trusting me, as a performer. Jaime feels so honest.”

He also pointed out that the entire cast was like one big family and it went on to become easy for him to rehearse for the role. He added-

“Although we’re telling this larger-than-life story, it felt really easy, especially with the help of the family, to get those moments. Our rehearsal days weren’t getting the lines right. It was talking as a family. Once that part locked into place, the rest of the dominoes went perfectly”

While talking about how Blue Beetle is a very different kind of superhero story, the 22-year-od actor said-

“That really is due in part to wanting the foundation of this movie and the soil to be really pure and wanting the hearts and souls of these characters to be three-dimensional. Once that was in place, everything else melted away. At the same time, we wanted to do something that’s different.”

On being different and not wanting to be branded by the audience, the storyline of the movie is all that will strike a chord with the audience, Xolo Maridueña clarified-

“We’ve seen a lot of these superhero movies, over the course of the past couple of decades, and seeing where we could fit in that feels different, was one of the most magical parts. It’s not about competition to us. We’re not looking to be called the next blah, blah, blah. We just want to enter this space and have it feel new, and I think we completed that. I think we did it.”

The speculations around the second chapter of Blue Beetle are doing the rounds of the entertainment world already. However, not much can be said about the sequel as it majorly depends upon the audience reception and box-office numbers of the DC movie.

Blue Beetle is set to hit theaters on August 18, 2023.
