Recently, the Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker gave an important update on the plot of Superman: Legacy while responding to a question on Threads.

“How much of the movie is dedicated to the origin story?”

To which James Gunn’s response was
“None.”
James Gunn’s response pointed out that the upcoming reboot has got nothing to do with the origin story of the Kryptonian superhero.
During an interview with the media outlet The Hollywood Reporter, in March 2023, Peter Safran mentioned James Gunn’s Superman: legacy. The DC co-head spoke about the plot of the upcoming movie. He said-
“It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks that kindness is old-fashioned.”
As Superman’s origin story was already shown in Man Of Steel, James Gunn is more interested in exploring the other aspects of the Kryptonian superhero, like his life as a reporter on Daily Planet and how he manages the role of a responsible superhero and a reporter.
James Gunn Breaks His Silence On The Alleged Leaked Pictures From Sets Of Superman: Legacy
James Gunn is one of the most active filmmakers on social media, as he has been updating his fans on almost every aspect of his upcoming project Superman: Legacy on social media ever since its announcement in 2023. From talking about the pre-production development to the design of the Superman suit- the DC co-head has shared almost every detail of the David Corenswet-led Superman: Legacy.
Recently, he was asked about the alleged leaked pictures of David Conrenswet in the Superman suit, which became viral on X. According to a query posted by a fan on Threads-
“Hey Mr. Gunn just one question has David Corenswet used the Superman suit on the screen testing? There’s a “leak” in the internet idk if it’s true but if is he looks great as the new Superman.”
James Gunn dismissed the leak rumors and revealed that the pictures of the actor in the suit were only on his phone. He replied on Thread-
“Glad you think he looks great, but there’s no leak. The only photos taken of David in the Superman suit are on my phone and I’m standing with him.”
Superman: Legacy features David Corenswet as the Kryptonian superhero, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Superman Legacy would hit the theatres on July 11, 2025.
