The MTV Video Music Awards were certainly one of the best award shows that existed back in the day. One of its most iconic moments came when Madonna kissed Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera on stage back in 2003. Although the Queen of pop kissed both the stars, it was her kiss with Spears that went down in history as one of the greatest moments of the music industry. However, as Jennifer Lopez revealed recently, she was also to supposed be a part of the iconic moment from 2003.

The True Blue singer shared an on-screen kiss with the Princess of Pop in 2003 that took the world by storm. Madonna decided to recreate her iconic moment from 2003 at Britney Spears‘ wedding. For the unversed, Britney Spears got married to Sam Asghari last year in July. The wedding was attended by close friends and family of the Pop icon including Madonna. The Gimme More singer even shared the iconic moment on her Instagram.

Jennifer Lopez talks about how she was supposed to kiss Madonna at the VMAs in 2003

Jennifer Lopez appeared in a recent interview to promote her upcoming Prime Video film, Shotgun Wedding. When the interviewer asked J.Lo about her favorite Karaoke song, she responded with Like a Virgin by Madonna. It was then she revealed that she almost ended up performing live with the Queen of Pop in 2003. She talked about why she couldn’t be on the iconic VMA moment from 2003. She said, “I was filming a movie in Canada. We had met — me, her and Britney — to do it, at [Madonna’s] home. I just couldn’t get off the film, so we couldn’t do it. Then they got Christina Aguilera, I think, to do it.”

J.Lo further added that she is a very big fan of Madonna and she regrets not being a part of the 2003 MTV VMAs performance. Although Christina Aguilera is considered the voice of the generation, it would have been pretty iconic if J.Lo was a part of the iconic kiss instead.
