After their infamous defamation trial in Fairfax County Court, Virginia, Amber Heard and Johnny Depp are once again making headlines for completely different reasons. For the first time since her trial’s defeat, the actress walked the red carpet to promote her upcoming film.
Depp, on the other hand, celebrated something he loves, music, on stage in Paris last month after walking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival 2023. He also shared glimpses of the event with his fans on social media.
Johnny Depp continues to rage through Europe with Hollywood Vampire
Actor Johnny Depp along with his band Hollywood Vampire took to his social media to give the fans a glimpse of their performance in Paris. He wrote “Love seeing all your faces out on the road…thank you so much for coming to see us!!! Eternally, JD. X”, along with sharing a couple of pictures from their performance.
Fans were delighted to see the actor celebrating and having a good time doing what he loves, which is playing music. According to reports, Depp took center stage to sing a couple of songs, including the cover of ‘Heroes’ by David Bowie.
Several concertgoers shared their experience of watching the actor perform live on stage with People magazine and a lot of them stated that Depp’s personal life does not interest them, adding that whatever it was, it’s in the past and he is an artist and that is why they were there, to hear him play. Fans also expressed their desire to watch him on the big screen at the earliest.
Johnny Depp did not forget to pay homage to his dear friend, collaborator, and musician Jeff Beck, who passed away in January and said during the performance, “We recently, all of us, lost a dear friend, Jeff Beck. Yesterday was his birthday. I would like to introduce you to one of his friends. His best friend — his Strat.” The white Stratocaster guitar was kept in the middle of the stage, which was not used for most of the night as they along with the crowd remembered the late musician.
Amber Heard appeared on the red carpet to promote In The Fire
Actress Amber Heard also appeared on the red carpet of the 69th Taormina Film Festival in Italy, where she was present to promote her upcoming movie In The Fire. Heard is excited about her upcoming movie and shared during the events, “It’s a beautiful movie about the almost supernatural effect and force of love. It is about the boundaries that love can cross and its creation, and really about the overwhelming power that love has. I don’t want to sound cheesy about it, but it’s a movie about love.”
In the movie, according to the movie’s press release, the actress plays a pioneering psychiatrist who sets out to treat a desperate child at a time when psychiatry was not yet a respected science. The festival was the first time Heard went in public since her embarrassing loss at the defamation trial against Depp. The movie however has not been received with good reviews and some fans have mentioned that the actress is struggling to stay relevant in the industry.
Conor Allyn, who has directed the drama, shared with Deadline that the actress started filming the movie right after the UK trial and she went for the Virginia trial as soon as they wrapped the movie. He added, “I think she is terrific in the movie and, and I’m sure that was very difficult with all this other stuff going on.”
Allyn further said, “ She was deep in her character and In the Fire during that period. I think that helped her, just reducing the amount of space that was available for anxiety, worrying about that other stuff. I definitely complimented her a couple times during the shoot, the way she was able to tune in. If she hadn’t been able to in such a pivotal role in this film, it would have been a mess.”

The actress also spoke to Deadline where she acknowledged that it has taken her some self-discipline to learn how to regain control of her narrative. She said, “I’m in control for the most part of what comes out of my mouth. What I’m not in control is how my pride in this project and all we put into this film can be surrounded by clips of other stuff. That’s a big thing I had to learn, that I’m not in control of the stories other people create around me.”
The Aquaman actress pointed out during the interview that right now all she wants is for people not to throw stones at her, adding that she is there to support a movie she has been a part of and that is not something she can be sued for. Heard added that she thinks she has made something for herself in the industry adding that she thinks she has earned respect for that to be its own thing.
The 69th Taormina Film Festival runs from June 23 to July 1.
