In an April 2022 episode with Jessica Kirson on The Joe Rogan Experience, the podcaster discussed the highly publicized defamation trial of Johnny Depp against Amber Heard. Stating that the trial, especially for the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, was more of a cautionary tale,” he slammed the actress for being “crazy” whose crying and yelling in the court was what made her come this far.

Joe Rogan went on to address the actor gaining fame at a young age, which somehow affected his perspective with the Aquaman star, who could never think of the same.

“It’s the whole Johnny Depp thing is just he was famous when he was 20, and I don’t think you get any kind of perspective like that. I think you’re f**ked. It’s like making cement, but you don’t add in all the ingredients, and it’s like, oh, I never cured.”

He further claimed that the actress might be dealing with some sort of mental issue that could be the reason behind her acts.

“Everyone knows now there’s something wrong with her. There’s something wrong. There’s some sort of mental issue.”

He had already mentioned the trial to be a “big win” for Depp with a bad loss for the “Pirates of the Caribbean!” who let go of him after Heard’s domestic abuse allegations.

The former couple had been engaged in a defamation trial in early 2022 which was filed by the Charlie and The Chocolate Factory actor demanding $50 million from his ex-wife for affecting his reputation.

It started when the actress wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post in 2018 claiming herself to be a “domestic abuse” victim. Even though there was no mention of Depp in the article, he had to face severe consequences in Hollywood because of it.

Due to her article, The Sun labeled him a “wife-beater”, which dragged the British newspaper to court in a 2020 UK libel case by the actor and his team. Though the actor lost the case, however, he had a major win in last year’s trial against his ex-wife, with the court awarding him $10.35m in damages while Heard was awarded $2m for her counter-claims. The actress initially applied to appeal the verdict however she eventually settled with him as her insurance company agreed to pay Depp $1 million.
