In recent times, Johnny Depp’s popularity can be attributed to more than just his eclectic acting jobs. The lawsuit and abuse allegations filed against him by his ex-wife Amber Heard were making headlines every day for months.
Depp won the lawsuit, but he had lost all the iconic roles he is known for way before that. The most notable is Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. It is really hard to imagine anyone else as Jack.
The question of whether he would resume his role in the infamous pirate franchise remains unanswered.

Fans are abuzz with speculation that when all is clear, will Depp be returning for his role in the billion-dollar franchise. Reports had emerged last year that the Edward Scissorhands actor would not do any work with Disney, furious over the studio dropping him off when he lost his libel case in London.
But fans are hoping that this has changed with time and they can once again see Depp donning the tricorn and tattered boots. Reportedly, it is plausible that Depp features in the sixth installment of the franchise.
A source revealed Depp’s stand on the matter:
“Anything is possible and, if the project is the right one, he will do it.”
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has hinted at keeping all doors open:
“We’re still working on it, nothing’s definitive yet,” he said when asked about progress on the movie. But we continue to take little baby steps towards a screenplay.”
With the screenplay still in the works, it is hard to say if negotiations are going on behind the scenes.
