Jon Stewart Returns to The Daily Show After Trevor Noah’s Exit as Late Night Show Returns to its Senses
The Daily Show, the late-night talk and satirical news TV program is finally going to have the host it deserves. Jon Stewart, who has previously hosted the show from 1999 to 2015, is back to take over the show’s reins. This news must be surprising for the fans who have been waiting for a good host ever since Trevor Noah’s exit in 2022.
Trevor Noah abruptly announcing his exit from the show did not leave much time for its parent company, Paramount, to find a host who would be willing to come in for a long term. So, they decided to cycle through guest hosts, which was pretty helpful initially. However, after a series of events, the show has finally got Stewart to return as the host even if it is for just Monday nights.
Jon Stewart Will Be Shouldering Multiple Responsibilities
Jon Stewart started his career as a stand-up comedian and later started to host TV shows. This is how The Daily Show got one of its best hosts (read: Jon Stewart) in 1999. However, he exited the show in 2015 and was succeeded by Trevor Noah, who did an excellent job as the show’s host for 7 years.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stewart is going to host the show on only Monday nights through the 2024 election. However, he will be working as an executive producer on the rest of the episodes. This comes as a huge relief to the fans of the show.
Here is what some of them have said on the social media app, X.

Known for launching the careers of Stephen Colbert, John Oliver, Michael Che, Samantha Bee, and Trevor Noah among others, Stewart is also going to be shaping new talent during his run. Hopefully, the show will not have a lack of choices to hire from when he retires again.
Why Did Jon Stewart Exit The Daily Show?
Now that Jon Stewart is returning to the show, some might be wondering why he even left in the first place. On the screens, it must have looked like he was just hosting the show, but the reality was far beyond it.
In an interview with The Guardian in 2015, Jon Stewart revealed that he left the show because he was dissatisfied with what he was doing. He said:
“It’s not like I thought the show wasn’t working any more, or that I didn’t know how to do it. It was more, ‘Yup, it’s working. But I’m not getting the same satisfaction.’ These things are cyclical. You have moments of dissatisfaction, and then you come out of it and it’s OK. But the cycles become longer and maybe more entrenched, and that’s when you realise, ‘OK, I’m on the back side of it now.’”
Having him return for just one day a week on The Daily Show probably made the deal more appealing for the host. Stewart worked as an activist and filmmaker while he was away from the show. He is coming back to The Daily Show after prematurely exiting the Apple TV+ show, The Problem due to creative differences between him and the tech giant.
