Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Akutami Could Have Given Sukuna the Coolest Cursed Technique by Making One Theory Canon
- Jujutsu Kaisen's antagonist, Sukuna seems to be able to do whatever he wants with his cursed technique. Him being able to cut stuff and use fire at the same time has confused fans.
- This bizarre and unexplained power added a layer of mystery around Sukuna and it caused fans to theorize about the true nature of his cursed technique.
- What if we were to tell you that we have enough proof to decipher the cursed technique of the King of Curses.
The world of Jujutsu Kaisen is chockful of sorcerers and spirits that can level entire cities. But none (not even Go and Jo) can hold a candle to the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna. While a lot is known about his origin and his strength, very little is known about his cursed technique.
The king’s cursed technique, while being associated with cutting doesn’t seem to cover his entire arsenal, with him being able to use Fire as well. And since Gege didn’t give us a solid answer about his technique, we shall do some speculating.
Jujutsu Kaisen does not reveal Sukuna’s true Cursed Technique
Jujutsu Kaisen’s King of Curses, Sukuna is a special-grade cursed spirit who is mainly associated with the cursed technique of cutting. It is mentioned in the manga that Sukuna can “slash” his opponents into pieces.
This attack of his, known as Dismantle is shown multiple times within both the Jujutsu Kaisen anime and manga, with Sukuna using it against the Cursed Womb in Season 1.
While it was implied that this was his only cursed technique, the Shibuya arc surprised us by revealing that Sukuna has a different form of slashing attack known as Cleave, which is an upgraded version of dismantle.
The attack power cleave can be automatically adjusted according to the strength of the opponent, meaning, the stronger the opponent, the deadlier the attack.

What is even more surprising is that the King can use both these attacks at the same time, as shown during his battle with Mahoraga during the battle of Shibuya, where Sukuna, while using his domain wiped out an entire city by using both attacks at the same time.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga states that while dismantle is used for slashing objects without cursed energy, cleave is used specifically for slashing objects that possess cursed energy.
By looking at all these different examples, one can conclude that Sukuna has two cursed techniques: cleave and dismantle. But this assumption would be wrong. In Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 115, it is revealed that Sukuna has the ability to wield flames.

In the battle against Jogo, the King overpowers the cursed spirit by using a secret command to wield flames. So the question is, what is his true cursed technique?
He can cook, literally
All the things we’ve discussed above and from all the techniques Sukuna has used in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, we conclude that Sukuna’s cursed technique is related to “cooking”. We know that this theory is a long-running one, but we wish to increase the possibility of this theory through our discussion and proof.
I think I have found what exactly is Sukuna true Cursed Technique.

Another aspect that affirms this theory is Sukuna’s Domain Expansion, Malevolent Kitc-, I mean Shrine. Malevolent Shrine. But it may as well be called Malevolent Kitchen because in Japanese, the word Shrine can also be read as Kitchen due to them both being written as ‘Mizuhi’.

Not only does this affirm the theory, but also brings back the Jujutsu Kaisen memes.
Even the mysterious flames that Sukuna commands hint at the possibility of this Jujutsu Kaisen theory being true. When he summons his flames, the command he uses in Japanese is ‘Kamino, Fuuga’, which translates to ‘Open, Furnace’ in English.
A furnace is used in high-temperature cooking for roasting and searing, which is what Sukuna does to his enemies (rip Jogo).
Sukuna cleaves through his enemies’ bones, dismantles them, and cooks them in the furnace to defeat them without leaving behind a trace. Hence, Sukuna is a cook and the name we give his cursed technique is: “FUKUMA YAKIMONO”, translated in English to “Demonic Flame Grilling” (can we copyright that?)
The above discoveries and the long-running speculations of the fans should have been enough for Gege to end Jujutsu Kaisen by confirming this theory, but alas, we’ve been left speculating.
All the seasons of Jujutsu Kaisen are available to stream on Netflix and Crunchyroll.
