Ke Huy Quan Literally Manifested His MCU Role in ‘Loki’ Just 2 Years Before Getting Official Call From Kevin Feige

Actor Ke Huy Quan, widely known for his critically acclaimed role in Everything Everywhere All at Once, started his career as a child actor when he appeared in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in 1984. The actor took a 19-year acting hiatus and, during that time, worked as a stunt choreographer and assistant director.
Quan became the first Vietnam-born actor to win an Academy Award for his exceptional work in Everything Everywhere All at Once. He is one of the most influential actors worldwide and is now a part of the MCU, appearing in the second season of Loki. The actor shared how he manifested his way into the Marvel Universe.
Ke Huy Quan recalls Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige calling him for Loki Season 2
Actor Ke Huy Quan already impressed the audience by playing Wayman Wang in Everything Everywhere All at Once opposite Michelle Yeoh. His work as Yeoh’s goofy husband was highly appreciated by the critics and the audience. Not only did the actor receive praise and various accolades for his work, but Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also noticed him.
In a conversation with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, hosted by Josh Horowitz, Huy Quan was asked about his entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor recalled that before he was called in to be a part of the very successful and popular Loki, he had attended an event for Richard Donner at the Academy, and Feige was also at the event.
Huy Quan added that afterward he and Jeff Cohen ran into Feige at the bar and started chatting and reminiscing about their work on the X-Men. He noted that all three of them at the time had also spoken about the work Feige was doing with Marvel. Quan shared,
The actor mentioned that he would have taken it either behind or in front of the camera. Ke Huy Quan shared with Horowitz that the thought had entered his mind, and two years later he received a call from Feige, and in that moment he could only think about how much he wanted that call. He stated that being a part of Loki was one of the incredible things.
Clearly, it shows that the actor manifested his role in the MCU almost two years ago before he received a call to star in Tom Hiddleston starrer Loki. Quan was highly appreciated for his work on the show.
Upon being asked about his future work in the MCU, especially with the Russo Brothers coming back, Huy Quan said he’s hopeful that he will make an appearance. The actor also praised the Russo Brothers by stating that he loves what they did with Avengers, and he’s so happy that they’re back for two more movies.
Ke Huy Quan loved playing O.B. in Loki Season 2
Back in 2023, the actor was asked about playing Ouroboros, or OB, who is the head of the Repairs and Advancement Department of the Time Variance Authority. In conversation with Variety at the time, he said,
During the conversation, Huy Quan mentioned that he was focused on being the action choreographer, but after he saw Iron Man, he was blown away by how fun and entertaining it was. He noted that he watched every single Marvel movie that came after Iron Man, and eventually the MCU grew on him.
Talking further about his character, he mentioned that after he read the script, he instantly fell in love with OB. He loved his quirkiness, humor, and passion for his job and how he jumped right off the page. Ke Huy Quan recalled and shared that his character in The Goonies was very similar to OB, so he based his Loki character on that.
He also teased that OB is the answer for people who want to know what Data is doing as an adult. He also praised Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki, for helping him understand and learn his lines, adding that he was blown away by his performance.
