Leonardo DiCaprio has been making headlines for starring in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. However, that is not all he has been in the limelight for lately. His rap performance on his 49th birthday has recently come to the attention of netizens and the response has not been that great.

Leonardo DiCaprio celebrates his birthday on November 11th every year and more times than not, the celebratory party is a star-studded affair. In a video that has now possibly reached all corners of the internet, the Titanic star is seen having the time of his life at his birthday party.
The New York Post reported that in his wild birthday bash last weekend, DiCaprio became the rap sensation of the night in the presence of legendary rappers like Snoop Dogg and Jay Z as he sang the classic rap song DWYCK, which was released by Gang Starr and featured Nice N Smooth. However, fans seemed quite unimpressed by the performance.

Dressed up casually in jeans and a black shirt, the Catch Me If You Can star showcased his newfound talent for rapping. His performance has been likened to that of Kendall Roy, the protagonist of the satirical black comedy-drama Succession as one fan on X (formerly Twitter) wrote: “L to the EO”.

Much like Kendall’s L to the OG was met with a variety of reactions from fans and yet managed to become an unforgettable moment in the series, DiCaprio’s performance of DWYCK will be indeed remembered as one of the most surprising highlights of the night. While some fans found the whole thing cringeworthy, others defended the star saying that he should be allowed to celebrate his day however he wants.

By now, fans know a lot of different things about Leonardo DiCaprio. For those who might have missed it; the actor’s career got a huge boost when he was handpicked by none other than Robert De Niro to star in This Boy’s Life from about 400 auditionees. DiCaprio lived up to the expectations and the impact of his performance was such that De Niro recommended The Aviator actor to his long-time collaborator Martin Scorsese.
Numerous interactions over the years resulted in a father-son dynamic between Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert DeNiro which can be seen on-screen as DeNiro plays the role of the latter’s uncle. Addressing this, the Romeo + Juliet star said:
“My career was launched by doing This Boy’s Life, auditioning with Bob, and then getting the role. Working with him, watching his professionalism and the way he created his character was one of the most influential experiences of my life and career.”
DiCaprio went on to say that this has given him the chance to collaborate with Martin Scorsese and Robert DeNiro at the same time, even though it took him 30 years to achieve that.
