She rose to fame when she received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress for her spectacular performance as an escort in The Girlfriend Experience’s first season in 2016. Before stepping into Hollywood, she started modeling at age 15 and debuted in the Dolce & Gabbana Autumn/Winter 2004 ready-to-wear show in addition to the Christian Dior Spring/Summer 2005 show. She recently shared how she got her Daisy Jones & the Six role.
Riley Keough will appear in an upcoming Amazon Prime series
Based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel, Daisy Jones & the Six, an upcoming American television miniseries that will make its Amazon Video premiere on Friday, March 3, explores the rise and fall of a fictional 1970s rock band. The finale is scheduled for March 24. New episodes will air once every week.
The Zola actress admitted to exaggerating her musical experience in the audition room during a screening of the new Prime Video series on Monday at the 92nd Street Y in New York City. “I think I blacked out during that meeting. I don’t really remember what happened,” the actress said during a panel. “And then, like everyone else, I auditioned and lied to them, telling them I could sing.”
Riley Keough has no music industry experience, and despite having late musical ancestors in the industry, she chose to follow her own career path and dreams. The Runaways actress also said that, prior to being given the chance to audition for the role, she knew almost nothing about the show’s plot.
Riley Keough lied about her singing ability when auditioning for Daisy Jones and the Six
Because the actress claimed to know nothing about the novel, she put on an extra-creative audition performance. She said, “Before my audition, I hadn’t read the book. When my agent contacted me, she informed me that Hello Sunshine is making a show by the name of Daisy Jones & the Six.”
She continued,”And then… I had a strange cosmic dropdown, and she told me, you’re going to be Daisy in this show. I didn’t know it was based on the book. I didn’t know anything about it, but then I got the book. I read the book, listened to the audiobook, and, like everyone else, I fell in love with it.”
According to the official synopsis of the show Daisy Jones & the Six were perched on top of the world in 1977. The band had become well-known because of its two charismatic lead singers, Daisy Jones (played by Riley Keough) and Billy Dunne (played by Sam Claflin). They eventually called it quits during a sold-out performance at Soldier Field in Chicago. After all these years, the band members now consent to tell the truth. This is the story of how a legendary band failed at their peak of success.
Riley Keough may not have heard much about the character before learning about the project, but according to executive producer Brad Mendelsohn, no one had any doubts that the actress would wind up playing Daisy Jones.
