An intriguing new fan theory suggests that the climactic showdown between Kang and the Avengers in 2025’s Secret Wars could take place in a location we’ve already glimpsed before in the MCU – the mysterious “Void” realm first introduced in Loki.

Could the Void in Loki Transform Into Marvel’s Battleworld?

In the Disney+ series, the Void is described as a wasteland sitting outside the normal flow of time, where everything the TVA “prunes” from the Sacred Timeline ends up. As seen when Loki himself gets erased, the Void contains wreckage and artifacts from countless alternate realities. It also houses dangerous beasts like Alioth that consume most of what the TVA sends there. But some objects and even entire cityscapes are spared from being devoured.

As per Screenrant, this has sparked a popular fan theory that over time, the Void could transform into Battleworld, the patchwork planet made from shards of destroyed alternate universes that serve as the backdrop for Marvel’s iconic 1984 and 2015 Secret Wars comic events.

The MCU’s version of Secret Wars is rumored to adapt elements from both those stories as it brings together Avengers from across the multiverse. So having the Void evolve into Battleworld would provide the perfect stage for Kang and his variants to face off with dozens of heroes in a climactic multiversal war.

What Hints Are Already There?

A key connection is that both the Void and Battleworld feature pieces of many realities coexisting. We already see Easter eggs from the MCU, Marvel comics, and even legendary hoaxes like the Thanos-Copter scattered across the Void landscape.

Loki’s second season has shown even more such references that inch the setting closer to Battleworld. Especially if, as one popular branch of the theory claims, Alioth is defeated, allowing more “pruned” items to pile up without being consumed.

How Would This Fit Avengers: Secret Wars?

Establishing Battleworld out of the Void would smoothly fit the rumored Avengers storyline. If an incursion wipes out the core MCU timeline in the upcoming Multiverse Saga finale, the Void could be all that remains, forcing Kang and his multiversal army to fight the Avengers among the rubble of lost universes.

The theory offers a reasonable path to integrating a pivotal Secret Wars location that feels organic rather than overly fan-servicey. And it builds on Loki‘s groundwork rather than adding confusing new cosmology this late in the Multiverse Saga.

Of course, it’s still speculative until confirmed on screen. But the clues embedded in Loki’s first season suggest Marvel may unveil this fan theory as reality sooner than later!
