Created by George Lucas, Star Wars is an epic space opera media franchise that began in 1977 and quickly became one of the most popular media franchises. It is known to be a pop culture phenomenon that has now expanded its reach into various other sectors including comic books, video games, television series, and more. The Star Wars saga began with 1977’s Episode IV: A New Hope following sequels Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI: Return of Jedi. Lucasfilm debunks the rumor of Daisy Ridley starrer Star Wars movie

According to reports online via io9, Daisy Ridley starrer Star Wars movie; New Jedi Order was rumored to be delayed but the studios have now confirmed that it’s not the case. The movie is still in active production and Ridley will reprise her role as Rey and make efforts to re-establish a Jedi Order after the death of Emperor Palpatine and the fall of the First Order.

It was rumors that writer Steven Knight had put Star Wars: New Jedi Order on hold to work on Peaky Blinders movie which now has been denied by the studios. A source shared via ComicBook, that those rumors are inaccurate and the studios are waiting for Knight’s latest draft of the movie.

Sharmeen-Obaid-Chinoy was announced as the director of the movie at the Star Wars celebration last year. It was also shared that the movie will be set after the event of The Rise of Skywalker and will follow Rey as she tries to build a new Jedi Order.

However, in a conversation with AlloCiné, the actress noted that the upcoming project is set to take the franchise in a different direction. She said,

“I think it’s a really fantastic exploration of the Star Wars world. It’s really cool way of taking the story on a bit of a different direction.”

With this said, Sharmeen-Obaid-Chinoy will be the first woman to direct a Star Wars movie.

Daisy Ridley on what convinced her to return as Rey for the upcoming Star Wars movie

Ridley portrays the character of Rey in the franchise and first appeared in 2015’s The Force Awakens. She has also appeared in The Last Jedi, The Rise of Skywalker, and Star Wars media. Her character was introduced to the audience as a scavenger who was abandoned on the Jakku planet as a child. She then trains under Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa to be a Jedi. As the last remaining Jedi, Rey makes it her mission to rebuild Jedi Order which will be shown in the upcoming movie.

Upon asking about what convinced her to return, Daisy Ridley shared with AlloCiné;

“Once I knew what the story was, and everything, I knew that it was something I really wanted to do.”

She explained that Kathleen Kennedy asked to meet her for breakfast while she was making her film. Ridley added that she thought the two of them were just having breakfast before Kennedy went that they might do another one and pitched her the story for New Jedi Order.

In November 2023, the actress in a conversation with Collider mentioned that she does not know if the upcoming movie is a trilogy or a stand-alone movie. She added at the time that she was sure that people were going to be excited and loved once the movie came out.
