Madonna Faces Another Heartbreak as Older Brother Anthony Ciccone Passes Away at 66 After Singer Got Dumped by 23 Year Old Andrew Darnell
Madonna is not in the best of places for quite some time now. And the news of her sibling’s passing away has come as a shock to everyone, including her as well. Anthony Ciccone, Madonna’s brother died at 66. The Material Girl singer is among eight Ciccone siblings out of which the late Anthony was the oldest. The Ciccone family grew up in Michigan and as per reports, Anthony was still there when he died.
Madonna’s eldest sibling passed away at 66
News of Anthony Ciccone’s death was shared by Joe Henry, a musician married to Madonna‘s sister Melanie Ciccone. He posted a black-and-white picture of the departed on Instagram with a heartfelt caption that read,
“My brother-in-law, Anthony Gerard Ciccone, exited this earthly plane last evening. I’ve known him since I was 15, in the spring of our lives in Michigan so many years now gone. As brother Dave Henry (who took this photograph) notes here, Anthony was a complex character; and god knows: we tangled in moments, as true brothers can. But I loved him, and understood him better than I was sometimes willing to let on.”
He concluded his message,
“Farewell, then, brother Anthony. I want to think the god your blessed mother (and mine) believed in has her there, waiting to receive you. At least for today, no one shall dissuade me from this vision.”
Madonna is yet to make any public comment on this personal tragedy. The 64-year-old was recently in news for her breakup with 23-year-old model Andrew Darnell.
Madonna’s late brother Anthony Ciccone hated her
The Ciccone matriarch, Madonna Ciccone is known to have passed away at the mere age of 33 in 1963. She was battling breast cancer. Meanwhile, her eldest child had struggled with alcoholism for years now. He had also stayed homeless for a really long time living under a Michigan bridge.
As per reports, Anthony Ciccone had always had tense relations with his family. Back in 2011, he had told Daily Mail,
“I’m a zero in their eyes – a non-person. I’m an embarrassment. If I froze to death, my family probably wouldn’t know or care about it for six months. My father would be very happy if I died of hypothermia, then he wouldn’t have to worry about it any more. He’s old school, he grew up in the depression.”
He further described his relationship with the Papa Don’t Preach singer,
However, in December 2017 Ciccone mended the wall with his family after finishing a rehab program.
