“Make it as great as possible”: James Gunn Gives a Huge Update on Robert Pattinson’s The Batman 2 and It’s Release Date

After the billion-dollar superhero franchise was taken over by James Gunn and Peter Safran, the duo has been making headlines. Every day there is an update on an upcoming movie, new faces are being introduced and the old ones are being eliminated from the franchise- the DCU franchise is up for a major reshuffle. Recently, the Guardians Of The Galaxy director announced the new and young faces for Superman: Legacy.

Amidst the reshuffle going on under the roof of DCU, director Matt Reeves has come up with the most awaited news for Batman fans. During an appearance on the Team Deakins podcast, Matt Reeves provided an exciting update on the upcoming Batman movie.

After the great response from the critics and fans of Batman, he revealed that Greig Frasier would be taking the responsibility for photography for the sequel too. His perfect class of work can be witnessed in the movies like-  Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Mandalorian. The star-studded cast of the upcoming Robert Pattinson’s Batman 2 speaks volumes about the movie. The DCU head James Gunn had mentioned that Robert Pattinson’s sequel to Batman is “coming out as early as it possibly can” and director Matt Reeves has been given enough time to “make it as great as possible”

With respect to the current Writer’s Strike, multiple projects have been delayed and halted in the entertainment industry. Uncertainty looms over the production schedule of the upcoming Batman sequel, and there is a possibility of the release date getting delayed by the current state of affairs in the world of entertainment.

How Does The Failure Of The Flash Impacts James Gunn’s Reboot Plan?

Ezra Miller’s The Flash has fallen flat at the box office, making it one of the underperforming projects of DCU in 2023. The movie was able to gross only $55.1 million domestically during the opening weekend. Statistically, The Flash lies behind other 2023 DC releases Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Black Adam.

With Ezra Miller’s The Flash falling on its face, the future of the superhero franchise has been shrouded with uncertainty. The Flash is one of the most expensive movies made under the banner of the DCU. However, from the current statistics of the movie at the box office, it is next to impossible for the movie to even cover a certain percentage of the making budget of $220 million.

The controversies surrounding Ezra Miller induced bad press. The movie majorly relied on the return of actor Michael Keaton as Batman which went on to add much weightage to his on-screen presence, taking the spotlight away from Ezra Miller’s The Flash.

It is a big threat to the James Gunn and Peter Safran-led DCU as the duo is busy with the reboot plan for the production house.

The Batman – Part II is scheduled to hit the theaters on October 3, 2025.
