However, Margot Robbie has already played the two most iconic characters on-screen, so she wasn’t hesitant while discussing Lada Gaga’s take on Harley Quinn. The renowned pop star is set to play DC’s one of the most complex characters in Joker: Folie à Deux. Following the upcoming movie, Robbie was asked if she spoke to the Poker Face singer, to which the Babylon actress expressed her excitement and anticipation to witness Lady Gaga.

Now that she has transformed into Hollywood’s one of the most coveted actresses, it seems like the Bombshell star is prepared to hand over the reins of Harley Quinn to Lady Gaga. The Just Dance singer will be captured slaying the Clown Princess of Crime in the upcoming musical thriller Joker: Folie à Deux.

Recently Margot Robbie caught everyone’s eye with her exquisite look and appealing Barbie-inspired dress at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards. During the event, Variety asked the actress about discussing Harley Quinn with Lady Gaga as the singer’s thriller is arriving soon, to which Robbie replied with all her excitement:
“Oh my god, she’s going to crush it. Are you kidding? She’s going to be amazing! I can’t wait to see it. I actually haven’t spoken to her about it. I almost don’t want to know, so I can save it for the surprise when I get to see the movie.”
Margot Robbie successfully proved why she is the industry’s most impeccable actress and addressing Lady Gaga’s portrayal of Harley, the Birds of Prey star’s anticipation was quite evident. Robbie hasn’t spoken to the Shallow maker yet, as she prefers not to spoil her excitement for Joker 2.
Margot Robbie Wanted Other Actresses To Play Harley Quinn
Considering the complexity and depth of Harley Quinn, she is undeniably an obsessive and formidable character. However, unlike Harley, Margot Robbie isn’t possessive about her role in the DC Universe. She previously mentioned her desire to see other talented actresses secure the role. The Focus star told Variety that:
“I always wanted Harley to be a character that would get passed on to other actresses to play, the way there are so many iconic male characters. That was always the dream for her. Harley’s so fun and can go in so many different directions. You put her in someone else’s hands, and it’s like, ‘What are they going to do with her?’ The options are endless.”
Despite her uncertain future as Harley Quinn, James Gunn has kept the door open for Margot Robbie to reprise her role as he mentioned that he would “love to work with her again as Harley or as someone else.” (via Threads) As for Lada Gaga’s upcoming musical thriller, Joaquin Phoenix is reprising his role as Joker including Zazie Beetz from the first film and other notable actors. Joker became a massive hit project that led to a sequel and considering the accolades and reviews the last film received, Warner Bros might succeed in replicating the success.
