It is no secret anymore that Ryan Seacrest won’t be a part of Live very soon. The 48-year-old announced his departure impending departure this spring on Thursday’s episode. He will be replaced by none other than Kelly Ripa’s husband, Mark Consuelos. And this will not be the first time that the spouses are going to be co-workers either. The two originally met on the set of All My Children and eventually decided to elope after dating. They were a part of the show’s cast together for years and have now also been married for over 25 years and share three children.

Meanwhile, in Consuelos’ new stint as a Live cohost, he doesn’t plan to just blend in but is rather going to make some changes.

Mark Consuelos, the future cohost of Live was invited to the Friday episode where the two cohosts and the guest talked about the upcoming switch. The Riverdale actor shared his excitement about working with his wife and that too on his “favorite show.”

Ryan Seacrest then went on to ask the 51-year-old about a game they usually play on the daytime talk show called ‘Great Days Trivia’, and if Consuelos knew the rules to it since neither of them did. Seacrest said, “One of y’all needs to know the rules.” Consuelos was ready with his response, as he answered,

“I know the rules. I know the rules. The rule is to not let the person that is trying to get this mug, get it. That’s the rule. New rules!”

The response definitely elicited some shock, especially from the American Idol host who replied, “Double the competitiveness. Double the fun.” He however added, “So, we actually try to throw the game so they win.”

Consuelos did not concur and said with a perplexed expression on his face, “That’s like playing paintball and not hitting your kid in the head.” Seacrest then asked, “So, you’re going to play to win?” And pat came the reply, “Oh yeah.” He also assured one of the crew members, “You’re going to have a big stock of mugs.”

Looks like Consuelos already has his head in the game, considering that he has filled in for Seacrest and co-hosted alongside his wife several times over the last six years.

The Live executives couldn’t help but notice how ratings and social media engagements increased manifold when the spouses cohosted, and now they want to take full advantage of it. An insider said,

“The ratings were so strong and the engagement on social media went up significantly whenever [Mark] was on with Kelly.”

It was shared as an example that back in January when Consuelos cohosted with Ripa on the 29th, that week saw the show’s Twitter engagement skyrocket by a whopping 243%.
