Eminem and Mark Wahlberg share a common love for rapping. Though Wahlberg is now a successful actor, he admits once being jealous and having hateful thoughts towards fellow rapper, Eminem, as the latter was a better rapper. Prior to acting, Wahlberg was a rapper in a crew known as Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.

Eminem and Mark Wahlberg’s secret feud

Eminem has had a long history of feuds with celebrities and recording artists like, Christina Aguilera, Chris Kirkpatrick, Machine Gun Kelly, Everlast, Cage, Insane Clown Posse, Will Smith, Miilkbone, Mariah Carey, and the list goes on. While most of his feuds are well-documented, there are some secretive ones too such as when he engaged in a brief and less talked about conflict with Transformers actor Mark Wahlberg.

According to Far Out Magazine, Eminem reportedly greeted Wahlberg on camera by saying, “Well, why don’t we stand together like a happy fun bunch.” It would seem that Eminem’s comments were in reference to Wahlberg’s former group, Mark Wahlberg and the Funky Bunch, which Wahlberg interpreted as an insult.

Eminem
On a recent episode of Hollywood Gold film producer Todd Lieberman revealed that Eminem was the first choice for the lead in The Fighter.

In an interview with GQ magazine, Wahlberg admitted being a hater of Eminem because of his rapping talent. Wahlberg quoted,

“Very cool guy, very talented. And yes, I didn’t give him credit for that a long time ago. I was a hater because he’s a better rapper than me.”

Though Eminem did not respond then, later on, in the record Drug Ballad, featured in his sophomore album The Marshall Mathers LP, Eminem can be heard insulting the Pain & Gain actor too. However, the two rappers have much love and respect for each other, and in their older years, both Eminem and Wahlberg seemed to have settled their differences.

Why Did Eminem Never Step Back Into Acting Again?

Similar to Mark Wahlberg, there was a time when Eminem had the option of following the Funky Bunch leader’s footsteps and embarking on his full-time acting journey. Eminem’s acting stint began in 2001 for the first time with a small role in The Wash and as an extra in the 1998 Korn music video for Got the Life. He made his Hollywood debut in the semi-autobiographical 2002 film 8 Mile.

Following his 2002 film, Eminem was offered multiple acting opportunities, some of which he took and some he declined. He made a cameo appearance in the 2009 film, Funny People. He was also slated to play Jake Gyllenhaal’s character in Southpaw for years but later dropped out.

Eminem shared that the film, 8 Mile was a representation of growing up in Detroit rather than an account of his life.

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Power producer 50 Cent shared reasons why Eminem dropped out of acting. 50 Cent said,

“I think he had a terrible experience on the 8 mile project,”  “He just didn’t want to go back again, like, ever again.”

In a 2010 interview with Jonathan Ross, he stated,

“You know, I love music so much. This is my passion, this is what I want to do. Not saying that I won’t do a movie ever again, but this is me.”

Eminem had a cameo appearance as himself in the 2014 film The Interview.
