Martin Scorsese’s Aversion To Slow Cars Led To A Hilarious Incident During Director’s Trip To ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’ Set
One of the major figures in the New Hollywood era, Martin Scorsese, recently shared one of his off-set experiences with Leonardo DiCaprio. Scorsese is known for his versatility as he has not remained confined to the position of director. In his 81 years of life, he has 76 nominations to his name.
Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio worked together on the movie Killers of the Flower Moon. Usually, the Don’t Look Up star avoids interviews, but Letterboxd managed to get him to do the unusual as he sat down for an interview with Scorsese.

On 15th January 2024, Letterboxd channel uploaded a 16-minute video chat between director Martin Scorsese and actor Leonardo DiCaprio on YouTube. Martin shares quite a funny incident about the speed of his car in Oklahoma.
During the video chat with Leonardo DiCaprio, director Martin Scorsese mentions a hilarious incident on the road in Oklahoma. When Martin was being driven towards the set of Killers of the Flower Moon in an SUV, he felt like his car was quite slow. He said, “We are going on for like forty minutes“, to the driver as he was so fed up being on that long road for so long.

The Taxi Driver director looked outside of the window to see almost nothing on both sides of the road. Frustrated, he asked the driver why the car was slow and the driver flashed him the speedometer. The speedometer said they were around 75 miles per hour. He couldn’t believe he considered the ride slow, even at that speed.

However, the legendary filmmaker mentioned that his inaccurate judgment was because no physical objects were passing by the car. The visual was so calm that the actual speed seemed a lot slower. He compared the concept with that of an airplane. An airplane seems slow, too, because there is nothing in the sky that passes by it.
Letterboxd‘s Video Brought Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio Together
At the very beginning of the video, Leonardo DiCaprio mentioned in clear words that the video chat between him and Martin Scorsese was Letterboxd’s idea. In this video, the two of them were meant to talk about those particular movies that influenced the movies that they did together.

It is a crime/western genre movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio as the male lead and Lily Gladstone as the female lead. With a 7.7 IMDB rating, the movie is based on the true story of the nefarious murder conspiracy of the 1920s in Oklahoma.
