While there is no official news regarding a live-action X-Men movie from Marvel, every now and then, rumors about some particular mutant superheroes starring in the movie swirl on the internet. Out of these, the one fans really want to see is Rogue, whose superpowers were downplayed in the Fox movies.

For the longest time, the X-Men were to Fox what the Avengers are to Marvel. Several mutant superheroes got live-action adaptations, with the most famous being Wolverine/Logan, for what came to be known as the Foxverse.

Out of these, the one that got downplayed the most was Rogue. Created by Chris Claremont and Michael Golden, she is a mutant who can absorb superpowers, memories, life force, and attributes of anyone through touching them. These powers effectively make her invincible and not someone who can be benched like she was in the Foxverse.

Recently, an industry insider has claimed on X that the X-Men reboot film will star Angel, Jubilee, and Iceman. While fans are excited about these characters, they also wish to see Rogue in her full form rather than the washed-down version like the one in the Foxverse. Here is what some of them wrote:

It has to be noted that any such information has to be taken with a pinch of salt since no official announcement has been made so far. In the meantime, however, fans can look forward to getting The Fantastic Four in the near future.

Rogue’s Superpowers Were Not Depicted to Their Full Potential in the Foxverse

Rogue’s ability to absorb superpowers and even personal traits doubtlessly makes her as powerful as her peers if not more. Her depiction in the movies is very different from the comics as already established, but the degree to which it differs is quite astonishing.

The X-Men movies showed Rogue (Anna Paquin) as someone who had to be looked after by Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). However, in the comics, she can not only absorb the physical talents of the heroes she touches but also specific character traits. In addition to this, just like Spider-Man, she also has precognition ability. Further, she can fly, is immune to poison, and at times, can control her absorption power.

There can be several reasons why Foxverse made Rogue look underpowered. The primary of these is perhaps that she absorbed a majority of these powers from Carol Danvers and Fox only had rights to the X-Men characters. So, if they were to show Rogue as this powerful being, they would also have to point out the origin of these powers and they could not have brought up Carol by any means.
