MCU: The Watcher Could Make An Appearance in Doctor Strange 2?
Most of us loved The Watcher in Marvel’s What If…? and he played such an important role. And that has left fans wondering about his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. The stories were multiverse-focused which focused on different variants of our favorite MCU characters! However, The Watcher (voiced by Jeffrey) oversees the entire multiverse but never interferes.
As the series progresses, The Watcher does make decisions he felt were for the best and it included gathering the Guardians of the Multiverse in the finale to stop Ultron from being backed by the power of the Infinity Stones. The Watcher revealed his powers towards the end and fans want more of him in the MCU. This could actually come true thanks to the multiverse plots in Phase 4.
The Watcher is returning for What If…?’s Season 2
Marvel Studios had started working on the second season even before they premiered the first episode on Disney+. The second season is already set to focus on new characters and MCU events and the premise does guarantee that The Watcher will be back! Considering that he interfered to save the multiverse in season 1, he could d0 something even bigger in the second season of MCU’s first animated show.
Marvel of course is being secretive and hasn’t yet confirmed if the first season’s variants will be returning to Phase 4 movies or even any show, but fans are hoping that The Watcher will be back.
Jeffrey Wright did a phenomenal job as The Watcher and his casting gives MCU more chances of portraying the powerful character in live-action films. It is possible that Wright could make an appearance in Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness considering The Watcher partnered up with Doctor Strange in What If…?
And we have got enough teases that Wright would be appearing in live-action films as a part of Kevin Feige’s plans.
Apart from Doctor Strange 2, the possibilities of The Watcher appearing in MCU movies and series are immense thanks to his multiverse link. We could see Jeffrey Wright in Spider-Man or Loki season 2 or Quantumania as well.
It will interesting to see how MCU brings him in the live-action films.
